The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we travel, but it hasn't curbed our love of exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with travel's new challenges:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking your flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, you should position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, like your small change and phone, and place them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
