My family (5 Adults and 4 Children, ages 13,10,8,1) were generally comfortable with the accommodations. The house was clean, but certainly could use some updating. The beds, with the exception of one, were adequate. The dining room table was a bit small for a group of 9, but we were able to manage mealtime, albeit somewhat confined. Parking was more than adequate with the 3 cars we had having easy access to enter and leave as needed.
This was our fourth time staying on the lake and the first time on the bluff side. We truly enjoyed the sunrise as we are early risers. The view from the upper porch provided a great view of the lake. The tradeoff for that view were the 45 stairs (which was clearly disclosed in the listing) that were required to get down from the house to lake side.
A few items that we encountered that if addressed would have improved the overall experience are as follows:
• Many of the windows lacked screens and therefore opening the windows to allow the fresh lake air in was not an option.
• The sink and shower drains ran very slowly resulting in water remaining in the basins for a period of time as it slowly drained.
• The dock is in need of repair as there are areas where the boards are rotted and weak and the transition from the shore to the dock presents a tripping hazard.
• The temperature in the lower portion (basement) area of the house could not be regulated and it seemed that the air conditioning was running constantly leaving that area very cold.
• The listing indicated that a firepit was on the property but none could be found.
• The bed, in the smallest bedroom on the first floor, provided no support and could not be used by even the younger children.
