Good location and size - but some strange things

The location is great - walking distance to surf and restaurants, the space in the room we stayed in was good and had a private balcony and the common areas were generally clean. A couple of strange things - for somewhere that is a "shared house"/hostel type the people who work/"hosts" were very unfriendly, there were 2 females who wouldn't even acknowledge us during our stay (walking into the kitchen and wouldn't even make eye contact or make conversation - mind you I commented on their food looking/smelling good and they didn't even respond). However, I will say there were 2 men who were likely higher management or owners who were very nice and offered to get our bedding and towels changed. The other strange thing is there was a boy who was sleeping on the couch every night, like he wasn't officially staying in a room there, but was just sleeping in the common area couch - strange and as someone who is paying to stay, didn't really love that.
