"The rooms are not outfitted properly. The bed frames are much bigger than the beds and I hit my knee/legs at least 5 times. And, there is a shelf over the sink and I hit my head washing my face. Also, the cleaning staff was vacuuming the hallways at 7:30AM and kept hitting my door. (I am a late sleeper) These may sound small, but made the night/morning very uncomfortable."

"The hotel itself had a great aesthetic, a beautiful pool area, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the actual room experience was very disappointing. The room was extremely small for my husband, daughter, and myself. The space felt very cramped, including the bathroom, and it made the stay uncomfortable overall. In addition, the TV in the room was broken and would not shut off unless it was unplugged. When I went behind the TV to unplug it, I discovered piles of dust built up behind it. Once the dust was disturbed, the air conditioning circulated it throughout the room, which unfortunately triggered an asthma flare-up. To make matters worse, there was also hair left in the bathtub when I went to shower, which raised concerns about the cleanliness of the room. While the property has a lot of potential aesthetically, the cleanliness, maintenance, and room size made this stay far below expectations."

"There were so many highlights with our stay. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony, which we found delightful. Our room was newly renovated and beautiful. Very comfortable bed and immaculately clean bathroom. Housekeeping was exceptional. Breakfast in the Palmetto Room was an outstanding start to our day, from the exquisite Bernardaud China place settings to the excellent service and food. The entire ambiance of Charleston Place is restful, elegant and welcoming. We enjoyed all the beautiful floral arrangements and listening to the harpist during the afternoons. The location is perfect for shopping City Market as well as upscale King Street, all within walking distance. We found the entire staff to be very friendly and helpful. It was an outstanding stay, and we look forward to our next visit."

"This was the perfect location for a long weekend in Charleston. The rooms were large and comfortable. The pools were amazing and warm. It was a quick free shuttle ride to downtown and a short drive to the beach for the day. We only ate at the hotel once choosing to head downtown for dinner or elsewhere for breakfast to avoid the $25 buffet charge. We were there on a holiday weekend and even though it was busy the crowds were never an issue at the pools and the hotel was very quiet. I would recommend staying here and would definitely come back,"

The Palms Oceanfront Hotel

8/10 Good

"Great location on the beach. Close to restaurants and bars, but still managed to be quiet at night. Nice view of the beach from our balcony. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean. Breakfast wasn't great. Fun to use the pancake-o-matic machine but they were rubbery. The bagels and the coffee were good though. Several good breakfast options nearby though like Sea Biscuit and Acme Lowcountry Kitchen."
