Staff were all so client-service oriented, business-like but in a pleasant way. Marco at the reception desk was so helpful. Breakfast was adequate and varied enough to please all types of travellers. The hotel's location is ideal as it is quiet while right in the town centre and is about 10 minutes away on foot from the train station. A good alternative to staying away from the hustle and bustle of Milan city center while being only about 30 minutes or so away by train.

Our stay at Hotel Ungheria was great! Good room with airco, facilities, great breakfast and excellent helpfull service throughout. A spotless and very well run family hotel. Varese itself is lovely, as well as centrally located, especially if you like to travel by public transport. Milan, Como, Lugano and more are nearby, including Lake Varese (cycle lane around it), Villa Panza and Sacro Monte. Fully recommended.

Staff is helpful but not always present. Check in was confusing at first but we got used to it. Hotel is in a great location in Varenna. But there is quite a bit of road noise that can be heard at all times. Room was nicely appointed with large clean bath towels, soaps, shower caps. A coffee maker and tea kettle and complimentary water were all available. The room was very very small however and the closet doors could not open - and the drawers in the armoire couldn’t be accessed because of the other furniture blocking their opening. We had to use a floor outlet to charge our phones because the outlets above the bedside table were all pushed into the wall. Also in our room accessing the power strip to plug in the coffee pot required me sitting on the floor and using the light on my phone to direct the plug into the outlet. Im 65 and it was not easy! Bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows available. Climate control was also good. I feel the owner did a lot to make our stay comfortable and feel welcome but the few things that were problematic could be easily remedied and would go a long way to making the stay more enjoyable.
