Very pleasant stay
We had a great time visiting Paonia and the quiet guesthouse was perfectly comfortable for us after our adventures in and around town. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

The Red House
The hosts are fantastic. The house was spotless and well appointed. The hosts left lots of information about the house and things to do in the area. The property was surrounded by nature. We saw a flock of wild turkeys. And the area was very quiet. Loved our stay!

Relaxing in Paonia
We had a great time at this property. It was exactly a advertised and close to town as well as a short walk from an amazing winery. The owners were welcoming and great at explaining everything, very friendly. We would certainly come back!

Most wonderful vacation!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Red House. It is a wonderful property, located in the hills of Paonia, in an arid climate. The view is of the plains, with mountains in the background. Paonia is a great starting point for many adventures, including the Black Canyon, Crested Butte, Telluride, Ouray, and the desert. The property was very clean and well-stocked, including many items I haven't seen in other VRBO properties. We especially appreciated the little touches - flowers on the table, the welcome message. Mary and Jim were very welcoming and great to talk to about local hikes and sites to see. They also have a wonderful garden and lots of flowers, which adds to the experience. We truly enjoyed our vacation and hope to be back soon!

Perfect long weekend
Mary and Jim were terrific about communicating on everything. The home was perfect for our needs as a home base for sightseeing in the area. It’s in a nice quiet neighborhood and very peaceful in the evenings while relaxing and waiting for all the stars to come out in the night sky. We would definitely stay here again. Perfect Paonia Getaway
Mary’s Red House was the perfect place for us to stay during our latest trip to Paonia. The house was extremely clean and had a great layout for our family. We loved sitting on the balcony enjoying the views after a day of hiking and wine tasting. Mary and Jim were very gracious hosts and we would love to stay at their property again in the future.

Wonderful Paonia
We loved staying at The Red House. The accommodations were clean and we were lucky enough to enjoy a masterpiece evening sky from the deck the first night. In the morning we woke to a couple of deer sleeping just beside the cottage in the near woods. The hosts were lovely and we look forward to staying again. We highly recommend this beautiful spot.

House is cute
We enjoyed our stay at this cute little house. Close to a few wineries. The view is spectacular! Only thing that would be nice is to have maybe a patio set on deck to enjoy the view. Other than that would stay again.

Fun Family Visit
Some of our family recently moved to the area so we drove out for a visit. This was the perfect location for us. We were close by to our family and could return here to relax and unwind. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Mary and Jim were wonderful hosts and very helpful. We kayaked on the Gunnison River (rented from Western Slope SUP in Hotchkiss) and drove through Black Canyon stopping at several lookout areas. We loved the Paonia Bread Company's coffee and bagels. Our favorite was Big B's especially playing on the swings while waiting for dinner. We will definitely be back we enjoyed this rental home so much. Thank you to Mary and Jim for making our stay so comfortable.

Great place to stay in Paonia!
Hosts were right next door, available for what we needed but respected our privacy. The rental itself was nice, with a very pretty view from the deck and all the amenities we needed. It's a short 5 minute drive into Paonia, and is close to the highway but without any noise or lights. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful fall get away at The Red House!
We recently stayed at The Red House and had a wonderful time! We used it as our 'home base' and then traveled the area during the day. Perfect location! Mary and Jim were excellent hosts. They checked in with us to be sure we had everything we needed, but did not intrude on our time. This home was a perfect way to disconnect from daily life! We would highly recommend it and will most likely stay again!

Comfort and hospitality in a beautiful location
The Red House has it all, close enough to Paonia with privacy and pleasant views. It’s an easy walk to lovely Azura vineyard and short drive to some magnificent hikes. The house was very comfortable, clean, bright and welcoming. We particularly loved the porch in the mornings and evenings. Owls are nesting in the trees close by. Wild turkeys sometimes stroll across the driveway. Thank you to hosts Jim and Mary for your warm hospitality and kindness. I look forward to staying there again.

Magnificent rental, wonderful hosts
The Red House is a gem of a property on a mesa overlooking the farms and orchards of the North Fork Valley. It is close to everything, yet very private. The two-level house is clean as a whistle and beautifully appointed, with a deck to watch the sunset, have a glass of wine from a local vineyard, or just enjoy the quiet. Mary and Jim are wonderful owners who thought of literally everything to make our stay easy and memorable.

Delightful guesthome
Mary was very communicative and welcoming before we even got there, and then imagine - fresh flowers on the dining table, in the lounge, and on every bedside table! Every amenity you might have forgotten, enough dishware, good recreation/winery info. Beautifully and cheerfully decorated, with art on the walls. It is a beautiful view from the deck. Mary and Jim were available anytime we needed (which wasn't actually much, since they had set it all up so well), but also respected privacy. I could tell they are lovely people. The view is wonderful, even with the smoke, and if you're lucky enough to be there in a new moon, you'll see the Milky Way! We also appreciated how quiet it was. Highly recommend this property.

Fabulous location and view
We really enjoyed our stay in Paonia. It is walking distance from Azura winery. The accommodation has a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, great water pressure in the shower and a super view of the valley with a nice deck to enjoy it. Thank you Mary and Jim for being wonderful hosts!

Love this place!
We enjoyed every moment we spent at the red house. The location is amazing and within walking distance to one of the best wineries in the region. It's quiet and secluded but still very close to town with easy access. Mary and Jim are the sweetest and greeted us upon arrival to give us a tour of the place. Absolutely perfect!
The Red House is one of the best rentals we've ever stayed in. It's pristine clean with great linens and lots of towels (which can be unusual for rentals!). We really appreciated the well-appointed kitchen, stocked with cooking supplies and dishes enough for a large family meal. It's in a perfect location with easy access to Paonia and all of the local wineries. Mary and Jim's hospitality couldn't be better. We certainly hope to stay there again and highly recommend it for a trip to the North Fork Valley,

Overall it was a great place to stay and visit the area. The house was clean and the location was in great proximity to the town and the river. The kitchen and dining room doors can use some screen doors as the we needed to open the doors for fresh air. Flies and bugs could have been avoided w screen doors. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We are in the process of having screens made for the doors. They are not custom sizes so it's taking a bit longer to have them constructed. In the interim, we do have some temporary screens in place that should be helpful.

Top Notch Hidden Gem!!
I have been in the rental business for 20 years and can certainly be a bit 'particular' about where I stay when I travel! This home, new on the rental market, is top notch, certainly not to be missed. I was in town with my family of 4 for a wedding just down the road and my sister in law recommended this home- our stay was nothing but excellent. Mary and Jim were easy to communicate with prior to our stay and helpful with information about check in and local activities. There were lots of maps and local information about the area which was very helpful. Lights were labeled and there were clear instructions in the house. At one point we needed a few extra hangers and Mary was very quick to respond. We had the pleasure of getting to spend some time with them on our last day and they are nothing but kind, warm and deeply committed to the success of their rental by providing a excellent home with excellent service. The house was extremely clean (big bonus there!) and well equipped. There were enough rooms for us all to spread out as well as a lovely kitchen and dinning room for family meals. The large deck made for a great place for morning coffee watching the valley wake up. Mary certainly has an eye for interior decorating- I felt like I was in a warm, local, artistic home rather than a sterile and impersonal rental. The mattresses, pillows and linens were all high quality and very comfortable. If you are traveling to the Paonia area or have family visiting and need a place for them to stay, I could not recommend this home enough. Truly a great find!
