A quiet and relaxing spot. We stayed for 5 days and had a great experience at this resort. We liked the structure of the rooms because it feels more like home. The staff was absolutely great! Very hardworking, friendly, and always had a smile on their face. Food was also good! I'm glad we got free breakfast every morning. Although it's a 10- to 15-minute walk to Alona beach, their hourly shuttle until 5 PM is convenient and handy when you need a ride. The pool is well maintained. Although some parts of the room (specifically the bathroom) might need some updating, but all in all, our experience staying here was excellent and memorable. We will definitely recommend this resort.

Fab find!

This is a great hotel! Secluded and quiet location. Great, friendly staff. Good food, happy hour drinks and a lovely relaxing pool area. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing I would suggest is having a board at reception so people booking trips can say which room/how many people and combine trips - especially good for solo travellers. I booked a countryside tour and bumped into two couples who would have loved to become a group, and for solo travellers it's nice to not do everything solo!

Tranquil little paradise

Awesome stay at this friendly little resort. Attentive and very kind staff, highly professional. The whole ambience at the place was so nice, and it could be felt between guests aswell, everyone talking to each other and making new friends. I think that this was because the staff where so friendly; in between d them self and with customers. The area is really nice with the best restaurants and best bar in town just a few steps away. Only downside is the distance to the beach; big resorts have closed of the nearest street. However shuttle works very good for this and makes it comfortable (even if we walked the nice walk most the time)

Overall a very nice resort. Some shortcomings: the bathroom door rubs, there is not a single towel hook in the bathroom, and part of the road is in very poor condition and turns into a very muddy field when it rains. I know this resort has free shuttle service to Alona Beach and there’s affordable tuk tuk transfer available but walking for the short distances is so flexible and healthy and environmentally friendly option.

Great place to stay, staff are extremely helpful and friendly! Property is in good condition, food was great. Clean and refreshing pool, free shuttle to Alona beach and close to other activities and food. Property has a generator for the occasional brownouts and good WiFi that works even if property is on generator.

Lovely stay here, room very comfortable and team have been super nice - would recommend as a base for your stay here, shuttle to town every hour and easy to walk/get a tuck tuk also

Lovely staff, good location

Nice rooms, but the power sockets worked intermittently (I had to use a different one every day to charge my phone), which made it hard to work. Otherwise the place was great, good breakfast, lovely staff, nice pool, and a regular shuttle to the beach (itself only a 20mn walk).

Like almost everywhere in Bohol the roads to the resorts are in bad condition. Can’t fault a single resort for that—perhaps a community effort can correct this. As for this resort—would be nice if airport pickup/dropoff was complimentary.

***BED BUGS ALERT*** We would love to post a wonderful review for this place because the location and the staff were pretty good. Breakfast was great as well as the scenery. We did occupy two rooms and in the first night our friend found a dead bed bug. Maintenance didn’t seem to take it too seriously and moved her to a different room. Meanwhile in our room unbeknownst to what was going on with our friend we slept through the night. I woke up with about 20 bed big bits in 4 different places. I spoke to the manager and again I don’t think they understand the significance or importance of bed bugs. Unfortunately due to this reason only we could never return.

Would not return to the Scent of Green Papaya resort in Bohol after a poor experience led to us cutting our multi night stay short after just one night. Firstly we found cockroaches in the bedroom, along with other insects in the bed including a silverfish which crawled out from under the pillow. At breakfast we also found a cockroach under the glass in the table we were sat at. The bathroom was also dirty, with behind the sink very grimy and the bottom of the shower looking like it hadn't been scrubbed in a while. Also old shower parts had been left in the corner under the sink. Our sleep for our only night was the worst night's sleep we had had in years, with chickens and dogs in the neighbouring property making constant noise and the thin windows doing little to stop the sound. The curtains are also paper thin and blocked no light from neighbouring buildings or the resort area below. Finally, while the pool area looks like it has had a recent freshen up, the rooms are very dated and in major need of an upgrade. This included balcony doors which wouldn't lock. While we complained to the hotel and were offered a room clean or alternative rooms, we could not stay there another night due to the very sub par accommodation and experience compared to what was offered. The hotel have since refused a refund through Expedia. I would not recommend staying here.
