About this property
Nestled in the Wooded Foothills of the Maiella National Park, Abruzzo, Italy
In the foothills of the Maiella National Park 'Casa in Legno' provides the perfect setting for a taste of real Italy. Situated on a steeply sloping wooded site in the hamlet of Limiti, near Palombaro, Chieti, Abruzzo, 'Casa in Legno' offers accomodation on two level terraces. At the top is the main house; a two bedroomed villa with open plan accomodation downstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed and ensuite facilities whilst the second bedroom is equipped with twin beds with a family bathroom just outside the door. Both bedrooms open out onto a large glass fronted balcony with commanding views across the valley to the hill top town of Palombaro. The ground floor has an expansive covered terrace for eating outdoors on those balmy summer evenings. The sun drenched lower terrace provides the setting for the swimming pool and pool house. The poolhouse is its own private apartment with a double bedroom, showerroom and kitchen/living room with double sofa bed. Please note that we do not let out the properties separately and that the whole site including the pool would be for your sole usage. Both properties are newly constructed. The photos shown on this website were taken in March before the surrounding trees had come into leaf. Work is ongoing. Whilst the interiors are complete the landscaping of the site remains in its natural state. Visitors should be aware that there are steep slopes and big drops both on our land and in the surrounding area which could be dangerous especially for young children. Fencing and landscaping is ongoing but no work will be carried out during your stay. The road up to the property is steep and narrow and the last 200 metres is a gravel track. Clients should be aware that a vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended and that low profile tyres are generally not good news throughout the area. If you have any concerns please contact us.

The house was beautifully located with magnificent views into the valleys and mountains of Abruzzo. We enjoyed to explore the surroundings or simply to relax at the pool.
The house is very nice with everything you need, including large swimming pool and a strong wifi signal. Local support was there when needed. Many hiking opportunities close by and biking was possible at the coastline.
The house is very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, spacious ground floor living/dining area and several seating areas outside on the terrace and patios. The view is stunning. The pool house is comfortable and provides a private extra space.

Basically, a good accommodation for a quit stay at Abruzzo.
The house is basically good for a quiet stay at Abruzzo for maximal 6 persons.
The private pool is very nice, but after years it would need some maintenance to the floor.
We loved the privacy you have at this accommodation.
We booked via Vrbo and in the specification was indicated there was air conditioning.
This is one of the features we filter on when searching for a holiday home in Italy in summer.
But there is no air conditioning in the house. At 35 degrees+ makes the bedrooms very warm.
There is a semi mobile airco in the pool house but is working very limited.
During our stay we had no water from 7:30 am till 7:30 pm, this quit long and makes the stay sometimes a bit inconvenient.
Maybe due to the trouble with the water the showers were not operating very good during the period there was water.
But, we had a very good stay and with some improvements to the climate control, water supply and some maintenance it will be the perfect stay for a holiday in Ambruzzo.
We want the thank Barrie and David for their very pleasant help and service the offered.

Has so much potential
It should be noted that you should arrive in the day if it's your first time here. Even trimming the brush on the road would be an improvement. Although very nicely decorated there were lots of minor things that need to be tended too. We were the last of the guests for the season and it was our impression they were letting things go for the owner to deal with, so hopefully they will be improved or fixed. Air conditioner in the pool house leaked water, the pool pump did not work well as it leaked therefore tripping the power to the pool house. David the care taker was very responsive but he could only do so much. The water was shut off (by the city?) 3 of the mornings which made it difficult to prepare for the day. The outdoor table was broken and never replaced.
The welcome gift was a very nice gesture. A recommendation would be to have a better coffee maker as the French press and Italian coffee pot was not sufficient for 6 people. A pod system coffee pot would be best as pods are available everywhere.
The views and tranquility of the villa are amazing.

Splendid view, nive pool and very kind and responsive owners
Our family of 5 enjoyed four nights in this beautiful house. If you like a place on your own with a wonderful view and nice pool this is definitely the right place for you.
Our family had an amazing stay at Casa in Legno. Barrie was a great and responsive host. The area is beautiful and peaceful. Each morning we looked out on beautiful fields, mountains and a hill top town. This is a great location for exploring the rural part of Abruzzo!
We had a wonderful stay in Limiti. 😊
The villa is very well appointed, and the views are to die for. A few, small problems was quickly taken care of, and the communication with both the owner and the caretaker was very easy.
We hope to return again in the future!
Loved the home and the location in the shadow of the Maiella National Park. Just as an FYI for future visitors, Google maps brings you in from above the property so follow the owner's directions when you get close. The driveway is steep. Well designed home with awesome doors and windows.
The pictures do not do the view justice. We cried from the beauty when we arrived. The house is modern and has high end finishes, and the transparent railings on the balcony allow for a clear view of the incredible scenery. The people in the town are very friendly, especially the staff at Di Vitis which is close by with a selection of food, wine, and staples. The location is about a 20-minute ride from the must-see castle in Roccascalagna. The host, Barrie, and the caretaker, David, are very friendly and helpful. I plan to return with other members of my family.
My wife and I spent 13 days at Casa in Legno, during June 2019. The house and the surroundings fulfilled all our expectations, and they were high already before we arrived at Limiti and Barrie´s house.
What makes Casa in Legno so unique? First of all, it is the house which is very well architecture and constructed. Secondly the pool, including the pool house where some of our friends from Sweden, spent some days. Thirdly the breathtaking view over the valley and the mountains that are surrounding the house.
We wish Barrie and his wife all the best in the future.

It's been an absolute pleasure to stay at Casa in Legno. A beautiful, peaceful location with amazing views that constantly change with the light.
The house is clean and tidy with a homely feel to it. There is plenty of shade and seating options on the terrace and Cynthia's balcony is an amazing place to relax in the evening whilst watching the hilltop villages and the houses in the valley below twinkle in the night sky.
The kitchen is very well equipped and only let down by the lack of a decent sharp knife and some of the pans.
The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable but frustratingly storage is limited due to the wardrobe and drawers already being mostly full.
The pool seems to have been repainted and whatever was used has not adhered to the walls and bottom and is blistering and peeling off. Although it was looking a bit tired it was very warm and cleaned regularly by David and we spent many happy hours in and beside it.
The track up to the house although steep and a little bumpy in places is fine if you take it slowly, even our little Lancia Ypsilon made it comfortably even though it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
It is well worth an evening stroll down to the Agriturismo L'Uliveto for great food and hospitality.
Further down the road is De Vitis Maria Domenica’s or Maria's which is a friendly treasure trove of basics plus a lot more.
From the detailed information we got from Barrie before our arrival to our stay in the villa surrounded by mountains, everything was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. The villa has everything you need and every time you look out of a window the views are just stunning. Barrie is very helpful and provided a lot of information on restaurants, markets, activities and shops in the area, we liked a lot of them. Thanks for hosting us and we will definitely be back some day!
Great house with great views on the surrounding mountains. Was able to relax by the pool while looking out at the country side with the mountains in the backdrop. Great restaurants nearby all within a 15 minute drive radius. House was clean and had all amenities needed for our week long stay.
Absolutely gorgeous, spent a week here together with two other couples. The surroundings and environment is magnificent and the people very friendly. As mentioned in the ad the last road up to the house is a little bit challeging but nothing to fear, we had a minibus (Fiat Talento) and that was no problem. Nothing more to ask from the house or the area, nice and piaceful.
Huset ligger med den smukkeste udsigt ud over dalen og de omkringliggende byer. Pool området er skønt at opholde sig på i varmen og børnene havde det fantastisk i vandet. Skønt sted.
