"Fair warning if you're booking this hotel. Make sure you are booking one of their actual hotel rooms. We mistakenly booked a nearby apartment (loggio) they rent and we were disappointed. The bed in squeezed into a loft with a winding staircase to the main floor with a couch and kitchenette. The bathroom was down another set of stairs on a third floor. Next to the bathroom was a storage room for your clothes. So, the bathroom and your clothes are two flights if stairs below your bed."

"We arrived in Bologna by train for a 2-night stay and the Starhotels Excelsior was a great place to land. The hotel is directly across the street from the train station and within a 20 minute walk to the center of town, which made it ideal for our needs. The front desk staff were helpful and efficient, and the room was spacious - you could walk around without tripping over suitcases - with a comfortable bed. Also, it was very quiet inside the room - any noise from the street below did not reach inside our room. The hotel was a basic place to stay for a couple of nights and met our needs perfectly."
