Family-friendly 5-Star Rated 19th Century Restored Mansion

Invite your friends and family to join you in this beautiful and comfortably restored 1890's family mansion. Enjoy all the historic features, along with the updated and modern amenities for this 5-star property. Relax on the screened porch, play games and cook out using the grill on the 1.2 acre shaded lawn, or curl up in one of the numerous window seats with a book from our library.
Guests have hosted dozens of events at our home such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, receptions, family reunions, friend weekends, church retreats, memorial services, and business meetings. All rentals include use of 1200-piece vintage china and crystal collections, table service, glassware, linens, table / chairs for 60 guests, kitchen, chafing dishes, etc. Service staff / cleaning staff available as needed for additional fee.
Property has perfect 5-Star / Superhost rating on AirBNB...now being cross-listed on VRBO and Expedia platforms.

Family reunion

Perfect location for our family reunion! We had a wonderful weekend and appreciated the help with set up and clean up. The house is a really cool historical home and my kids loved exploring it. Would definitely book again!

Christmas magic

We enjoyed our stay in this magical home. Our entire family were able to gather in one home to be together for Christmas. We had enough bedrooms, bathrooms, and eating space to all be together. Both adults and children had space to talk and play. It worked out beautifully for our family!

Wedding shower

Perfect venue for our event that had a formal part indoors and informal part outdoors. Owner was very helpful and staff very professional, which allowed us to sit back and enjoy the day. With all the bedrooms it allowed out of town guests a place to stay.

Family reunion

This home was perfect for our summer family reunion! We loved hearing about the history of the property and Lisa is a wonderful host. The backyard is so relaxing and we really enjoyed our time around the fire pit. The bedrooms are cozy and there was plenty of space for cooking and dining as a big family. We would love to return for another gathering.

Gender Reveal

This property work as a small venue for us to host a gender reveal event. It was extremely helpful to have all linens for tables, silverware, serving dishes etc. available for use. Nice outdoor living space for a campfire was an added bonus!

This property was lovely and suited our needs perfectly. We were ten siblings with some of the spouses - several were local and did not stay overnight. It was like a step back in time but with all the modern amenities. The owner was gracious and welcoming and we hope to be back next year!

The 8 of us gals had a wonderful stay here. Lisa has a very well stocked kitchen and plenty of towels etc. There was wood available for the fire pit and fire starters. While it was on a main road it was far enough away to be very quiet. Plenty of comfortable beds.

Spacious with cozy gathering spaces

Our family of 12 adults, 1 child, and 1 infant had plenty of rooms available for privacy in addition to spaces where we could gather as a group. The house is beautifully welcoming, and we'd all recommend it. We spent time at Headlands Beach, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and University Circle - all within an hour's drive.

Absolutely amazing - again!!

We 100% recommend this rental!! We are now repeat visitors of this beautiful home and hope we’ll be back again. Staying here is really staying in a HOME. A warm, loving environment with arms wide open ready to host you to sleep and your friends or family to gather to celebrate. Our hosts, Lisa and Bill, were once again incredible communicators and made sure we had everything we needed to host family from near and far away for a family reunion over Memorial Day. This gives us a chance to gather and take a moment to be grateful for the family we were given. What a blessing! We had so much room to spread out to relax including a first floor bedroom that was ADA compliant for grandma who has some mobility issues. Upstairs the bedrooms were plentiful and we slept very comfortably. We loved the addition of the back deck since we last stayed. This added yet another gathering place. Can’t wait to see what comes next before we visit next time!!

Absolutely amazing!

If you're planning a small, intimate wedding in the Cleveland area, definitely book with Candoren. We had our wedding for about 50 people here and it was absolutely beautiful. Lisa is so nice and has amazing ideas. The outside is perfect for a backyard wedding, and the inside is so full of history and charm. The staff on the day of my wedding was on it and rolled with so many punches. They really make your day so special.

Candoren rental rocks!

Traveling from Columbus we wanted a place to celebrate my wife's milestone birthday with our immediate family so we could all be socially distanced. Lisa and Bill were amazing, setting up a perfect event and their recommendations of using FATS as the caterer was amazing, we even went there for breakfast the next day! The house is wonderfully refurbished (man they put a lot of work into it) with plenty of rooms and all the right accommodations. But it was the personal touch from both of them to make sure everything was just right for us that made us feel special. Stayed at many VRBO's, these two know how to do it right - highly recommended!!!

This stay just couldn't have gone better!!

I am so grateful that VRBO brought me to Lisa's home in Painesville!! My mother passed away in November of 2020. So between Covid and the holidays, a funeral with family just wasn't possible. We came for the Memorial Day weekend to bury her ashes and gather with family. We needed both a place for 8 of us to sleep and a place to hold a luncheon with our local family. We felt right at home in the Candoren. Lisa and her team have found just the right mix of upgrading things like the kitchen and the bathrooms, while keeping the charm of the original home intact. It is a beautiful home and each room is warm and inviting! One of my relatives used to come into the home with the previous owner and she was SO impressed with the updates that had been chosen. We had hoped to let family wander outside to help everyone be together safely, but instead the weather was cold and rainy. Turns out there was PLENTY of room inside for everyone to be together!! The sitting room upstairs was occupied by the "20 somethings" while the downstairs rooms were the "older folks." :) And per usual - many people ended up gathering in the kitchen where there was a coffee pot brewing with warm coffee. I mean - I really just can't put into words how grateful I am for the weekend we were able to have there. I know my mom would have been so pleased with the way we were able to honor her. The house was filled with laughter and singing and her memory was alive around us. After a long, sad year this was a perfect balm for our family. We're all hoping we can come back again for a family reunion in the years to come!

Candoren .... yes!

Candoren Guest House was amazing. Everything was great. We all had a great time relaxing and enjoying our time together. Lisa and Bill had everything we needed. Loved, loved, loved staying there and I hope we left it like we were never there.

2022 Annual Sibling / Spouses Getaway

On an annual basis my 4 siblings / spouses plan an annual getaway to maintain strong family relationships. In total there were 10 of us who stayed here. Lisa was always very timely with her communication. She and her husband were at the home when we arrived for check in. Both were very congenial and made us feel welcome. They provided a tour of the home and provided some historical facts. Lisa and her husband have done a wonderful job at renovating the home. With plans to do more. This property provided us the space we were looking for. We enjoyed being able to sit together in the large living room and reminisce and have a good time. I can highly recommend this property as a place to stay at. It was central to other places we wanted to take in..

Night before bridal shower

We decided to stay over the night before my bridal shower. It made it so much easier for us the next day. Lisa is absolutely amazing. The house is clean and though it is big, it is homey. The neighborhood is really quiet and my gusts were impressed. I look forward to staying again!
