The best time to visit Paerau is during the warmer months, from December to February, when the weather is ideal for outdoor activities.

During this period, Paerau experiences its summer, with long daylight hours and generally settled, warm weather. This makes it great for exploring the natural beauty of the region, such as hiking, cycling, or enjoying the local lakes and rivers. The average daytime temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, which is excellent for those looking to spend their days outdoors.

Couples often find this time particularly appealing for a romantic getaway, as the pleasant weather allows for scenic drives through the Otago landscape and leisurely picnics by tranquil waters. Many local vineyards are also in full swing, offering tastings and tours, which can add a lovely dimension to a relaxed trip.

Families, too, will appreciate the summer months. The stable weather means less chance of disruptions to plans, making it easier to enjoy activities like fishing, exploring walking trails suitable for all ages, or simply relaxing in the great outdoors.
