About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Our Rustic Packwood cabin has been renovated and we updated several features inside and out.
We’ve recently renovated our Cabin and added several new additions throughout:
*New appliances and counter tops to our kitchen *Large outdoor deck (facing coal creek), *Whir-pool stacked washer and dryer set *4K 55 inch Samsung smart TV ( featuring Hulu live, Roku, Netflix and Amazon Prime video). *Wave WiFi throughout the cabin *40” TV with blue ray in the kids bunk area-
We also have a game closet downstairs featuring monopoly, Jenga, battleship, Pictionary, and a few other classics.
Our cabin was built in 1964, and the previous family had 50 years of memories within this vintage chalet. After 5 years of enjoying several wonderful family ski outings, we’ve decided to share this experience with others. Be the first person or family to explore the great outdoors while staying at the Coal Creek Chalet!
*We're no longer supplying firewood after Memorial Day 2025 due to several area forest fires. The Goat Rocks fire came within 1 mile of our family cabin. Guests can check local burn bans, and purchase their own fire wood for consumption. Thank you

Felt like home we had such a comfortable stay, we shall be returning and overall we loved it! And thank you for sharing your home with us and letting us experience it with the family.
Fantastic cabin in a beautiful location. We loved the deck, the river sounds and a peaceful, quiet place to relax. Close to Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helen's to cross amazing places off our bucket list. Great host!
The property was fantastic and beautiful. We had a great time with our kids (plenty of toys and games to keep them occupied). Truly wonderful and would stay here again.
Fantastic cottage on the river only minutes from Mt Ranier, hiking and views! Such a beautiful place to relax after hiking! Enjoyed morning coffee and evening fires listening to the river
Really enjoyed our time at this cabin. It was exactly as advertised and very comfortable for four adults. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need. And the wood burning fireplace in the living room is wonderful! Easy access to Mt. Rainier National Park. We’d stay here again!
The cabin is very cozy and in a great location. Clean and fully equipped. Coal creek and Cowlitz River surround the property with a soothing sound. Just relax and enjoy!
We had a great stay for the five nights we were there. Nicely furnished, plenty of games and a well-equipped kitchen, and a great location. We kept the windows open at night and in the cool of the morning and then closed them during the heat of the day, and we were very comfortable without heating or fans, but I'm sure the fireplace would be a great asset in cooler weather.
Place was very clean inside and the grounds were very well maintained for this time or year. We had 7 adults for my daughters weddong and there was more then enough room for us all to get ready. Price was great and exceeded our expectations. Definitely recommend
Loved this cabin by the creek. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The cabin has everything and more that you need, all the way from laundry detergent to spices in the kitchen. All the little extras are really nice to be included when your on vacation. Cabin was very clean. Beautifully surroundings. Would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area.
We had a great experience in Packwood. We were close to town for Packwood Brewery and the grocery store. The Paradise entrance to Mt. Rainier was about 90 minutes away. 90 minutes in the other direction was some great fly fishing in the Yakima River Valley.
We had family from Texas come to WA for a few weeks so we rented this cabin to use as a base for exploring Mt. Rainier. It was exactly how I had fantasized our time. We hiked and played all day and came back to the river to splash around while cooking dinner then had great family dinners on the patio picnic table into board games and stories. Our children loved the bunk room (six kids between us ages 4-10), trying to catch minnows with their hands in the creek and all of the board games. The adults loved the large patio for morning coffees, the quiet of the neighborhood and the beautiful scenery. The cabin fit us perfectly. You can tell the owners are thoughtful about the guest experience. I recommend and will be sharing with anyone who asks for a recommendation near Mt. Rainier.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house sits on a beautiful creek and the sound of the water is so relaxing. The river is approximately 20 yards away and the views are stunning! We took our chairs over several times to enjoy the view. The house was well furnished with all the necessities. While it does not have air conditioning, it was manageable with opening the windows and using the fans provided. We would suggest that cooler sheets are provided for the king bed upstairs in the summer. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend to others! A beautiful home and great location!
"Hi Karsten, Thank you for asking. We had such a wonderful time. Packwood was a beautiful respite from the heat. We enjoyed our National Parks and the wildlife too! But I have to say the little cabin was so sweet. Everything was as pictured and described. Above and beyond that, your attention to detail, as well as thoughtful appointments and all the extra touches were very much appreciated. ~ Sherron"

Great location but not clean
Location was great but the cabin had flies and drain flies. Woke up with bites so possibly bed bugs as well. Dishes were not clean grease left on many dishes. Also extremely hot upstairs. The cabin was still 80degrees at 900pm
This property was out of a fairytale. The kids loved playing in the creek/river and the playroom was perfect for them. The house was stocked well with everything we would need. My ONLY complaint is that the weekend we were there, it was pretty warm weather (80-90 degrees). The cabin was HOT. There was little air circulation and although we were provided many fans… we couldn’t sleep. I think to invest in a portable AC unit would mean everything in the summer months.
Otherwise, the trip was perfect. We wish to be back someday soon.
The property was great for a weekend getaway with family. Great amenities for young kids. Great property, fantastic location, would definitely go back!
