Packwood | Basecamp Cabin at The Peak

Summary:

Located in Packwood (not Randle) and across from Longmire Springs Brewing, the Basecamp Cabin at The Peak is a stand-alone 2-bedroom retreat designed for mountain adventures. Thoughtfully restored with modern updates and warm wood accents, this private cabin features a full kitchen, dining area, spacious living room, and gear-friendly mud room. Walk to town, ski White Pass (20 min), and unwind after a day at Mt. Rainier.

The Space:

The Basecamp Cabin is a private, stand-alone home located on The Peak property, offering the space and comfort of a cabin with the convenience of being near town.

Inside, you’ll find two separate bedrooms, a full bathroom with tub/shower combo, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious living area with a wood feature wall that adds warmth and character. A full-size dining table makes it easy to gather for meals or game nights, and the entry mud room is perfect for storing skis, snowboards, hiking boots, and outdoor gear.

While the cabin is private, it is located on a property that includes other vacation rental buildings.

Shared outdoor amenities such as fire pits, picnic seating, and a clubhouse are available on the property.

Guest Access:

Guests enjoy private access to the entire stand-alone cabin, including both bedrooms, full kitchen, living area, bathroom, and entry mud room.

Self check-in is available via secure keyless entry for a smooth, contactless arrival. On-site parking is provided.

While the cabin is private, it is located on The Peak property and guests may enjoy shared outdoor amenities such as fire pits, picnic seating, and clubhouse areas.

On-site property managers are available should you need assistance during your stay.

The Neighborhood:

The Basecamp Cabin is located in Packwood, a small mountain town known for year-round outdoor adventure and relaxed alpine charm. You’re just minutes from downtown shops, cafés, and breweries — including Longmire Springs Brewing directly across the street.

Mt. Rainier National Park is a short drive away, and White Pass Ski Area is about 20 minutes east, making this an ideal home base for hiking, skiing, fishing, and exploring the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Packwood offers the perfect balance of access and tranquility — close to everything you need, yet surrounded by forest, mountains, and wildlife.

Getting Around:

Downtown Packwood is approximately 0.5 miles away and walkable for most guests. Longmire Springs Brewing is directly across the street, with Zest SriThai Food Truck and a local thrift shop in the same parking lot — making it easy to grab dinner, drinks, or browse without driving.

White Pass Ski Area is about 20 minutes away, and Mt. Rainier National Park is a short scenic drive.

As Packwood is a rural mountain town, sidewalks are limited in some areas, so please use caution when walking, especially after dark.

Other Things to Note:

We offer Starlink Wi-Fi, which works well for most browsing and streaming needs. As with any rural mountain location, occasional slow speeds or brief outages can occur. For backup entertainment, the cabin includes a DVD player, movies, puzzles, and board games. Cell service is available, so you won’t be off-grid.

Packwood is a true mountain community, and it’s common to see elk and other wildlife roaming through town and occasionally near the property. Please enjoy observing wildlife from a distance and do not feed or approach animals.

If traveling with pets, we kindly ask that they be kenneled when left unattended. Excessive linen damage may result in replacement fees.

Guests staying longer than four nights may request access to the on-site coin-operated laundry facilities.

Interaction with Guests:

The Basecamp Cabin offers easy self check-in with secure keyless entry, allowing for a smooth and flexible arrival.

While there is no traditional front desk, on-site property managers are available if you need assistance during your stay, including after-hours support. We’re also happy to provide local recommendations and are just a message away should anything come up.

You’ll enjoy the privacy of your own stand-alone cabin while still having support nearby if needed.

I cannot say enough about the on-site manager, he was so kind and helpful when my husband had a medical emergency. I will definitely be back, it was a charming little cottage, everything was pristine and it was charming.
