Great Ryokan close to Dotomburi.
The ryokan is well located and the staff are very nice and hardworking.The place is clean but common areas are quite dimly lit.The hotel is very clean and well priced.Great experience!

Good for a night
This place is just okay if you need somewhere to stay for a night. Staff was very nice and responsive to all our questions. The two older ladies who own the place don't speak English, but if you have questions make sure to ask the older gentleman. The room is clean and comfortable, if a little dark. The futons were nice and squishy. I was surprised there was no drinking water in the room. Also, they call it a ryokan, but I didn't see anything about meals on offer. We didn't try the public baths, so I can't speak to that. The location is not super convenient. It's actually quite a walk to Dotonbori and there weren't any cabs around. The area around the hotel is mostly host bars and apartments, parking. Cheaper than most western-style hotels in Osaka. There was nothing really bad about the place, but I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Good location but needs updating
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very reasonably priced for its great location. However, hotel itself is dated and needs updating. Carpets are old and smells of smoke. Sheets have been washed so thin that there are tiny holes. I would recommend this hotel if it can spend a little money to replace the old/dated hardware.

Only two blocks away from the shopping district!
As we entered we were assisted by a lovely gentlemen at the front desk. Unfortunately I made the mistake of booking for one instead of two but thankfully there was a room available and he was happy to accommodate us. A lady then showed us to our rooms and explained all the facilities and amenities available to us. All other staff members we encountered during our stay were extremely friendly and helpful!

Needs renovation
We have stayed in Osaka before, but usually in a business hotel closer. This time we decided to go for a traditional ryokan. Although the staff was very friendly and overall looks and feel of the hotel was OK, I must say that is is long due a renovation. The walls and paper dividers in our room had stains from years of use, and the electricity sockets were flashing and coming out unless you held it with your hand. (not very safe) The bathroom is a standard Japanese size, but it looks like something from the 70s. Same for the reception area and elevator. The area is very close to Dotombori and shopping streets, but the hotels immediate neighborhood is mainly where the Chinese and Korean small businesses are to be found, and is a bit rough.

Nice Ryokan
We are a group with 7 family members, booked a 5-bed and a 2-bed room for 6 nights' stay. Hotel Kuramoto is a nice hotel with tatami, similar to a traditional Japanese ryokan. Large tables available inside the room so we could chat & have snacks around the table. Perfect for those travelled with family members. Traditional Japanese hot bath available free of charge in the hotel but it was a pity that we did not have time to enjoy it. Hotel staff were nice and helpful, despite the fact that we requested to return to the hotel room while staff were cleaning up the room in the afternoon. The room cleanliness is just OK, and the hotel is rather old. However, the room is quite spacious compared with standard Japanese hotels. Also, the location is quite good, just 5-10 minutes to Dotonbori, Kuromon Ichiba Market and Nipponbashi metro station.

Comfortable hotel right next to Dotonbori!
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The old man there directed us to a very cheap laundromat just down the street and a few other places. Traditional Japanese style living with lots of lounge space. Was a little sore from sleeping on the floor as the beds are a bit thin. Conveniently within 5 mins walk to Dotonbori!

Family run ryokan-style hotel
First of all, the building is kinda old. It's a family run business, hosts are friendly and helpful. It's not difficult to find the hotel and it's pretty close to the Dotonburi etc. Vending machines are literally everywhere. Room size was good, free green tea and some snacks are provided in the room. There is also public bath available on the ground floor. However, we went during Spring season and out of the four of us, two got bitten by some unknown bugs. Unfortunately one of the two reacted to the bites quite badly as she is allergic to the bites. Advice for you is to get a proper repellent in case similar thing happens, other than that it's actually a nice big room with traditional tatami and futon.

Loved Hotel Kuramoto. Wanted an authentic, Japanese experience when we arrived. Didnt want the same old hotel to stay in. You could be anywhere in the world - boring. Brilliant room. Tatami, futons on the floor - BEST sleep ever. The room was warm for us on our return each night from all our sight seeing. Many thanks. Excellent location. Short walking distance to Dotinbori - fabulous street of food, culture, shopping & fun. Subway so so so close as well. Loved our stay. Will recommend & return.

Great hotel.
Centrally located, clean, nice people, great rooms, affordable. We stayed in a Japanese traditional room, not western style. Tatami mats and futons, we loved it! Will stay there again next time we are in Osaka

Spacious and clean room
There were five of us in staying in the room, and it was very spacious. A simple stone garden just outside the balcony with rolling shutters for privacy. The reception was a little run down and messy as they were in the midst of cleaning when we arrived. Overall a pleasant experience.

A rather odd hotel. Fells like a 60s or 70s vintage rundown ryokan that one would find in a not very popular onsen area in the boonies -- strange to have something like this in the middle of the city. Proprietors not particularly friendly, and there is no breakfast. Bath not hot enough. My room was clean and had new tatami but overall the place was rather worn and tired.

Reasonable hotel and good location
There were 5 of us and had 2 rooms, in our family. We really enjoyed the ryokan experience and the staff were so nice and helpful, especially visiting for the first time in Japan! The location was perfect to everything and very convenient.

The lovely people manning the hotel are helpful, even if they can't speak much English. The room was spacious and very clean. The futon was great! The yukata was also lovely. The bath on the ground floor was just great! Simply the icing on the cake. On the outside and on the ground floor, the hotel looks old. But it was a really pleasant stay and so close to the dotonbori.

We really enjoyed our stay at kuramoto. The futons were really comfortable and our room had a zen garden outside the window. The public bath on the bottom floor was a really great experience. The hotel provided yukatas to wear to the bath too. We had a hard time finding the location as locals did not seem to really know of the place (though it was definitely legit and not even in a shady area).

I thought this room was good value for money. No one was on the front desk when we arrived and nothing in English to say what to do. Once staff were there they stored bags until check in time. We struggled to find the hotel first so ensure you have a good map. Room was large and clean.

Pros: sizable room, the have a spa/bath downstairs. Neutral: location about 10 minute walk to doutonbori, check in didn't speak as much english, but were nice enough. Wish it could be a little bit better: wish location was about 5 minutes closer to subway, wish they had wifi in the rooms (ethernet in room--but you need your own cable)--so i was stuck 2 feet from the tv in one corner). also power went out once in middle of night while i was working. and on friday night drunks walked by singing and dogs barked---more like a normal neighborhood. overall, it was worth what we paid, but not more than we paid.

Nice and neat tatami hotel
Neat and tidy rooms. Kind and helpful staff. He even reminded us of the weather and asked us to bring umbrella~ This tatami-style room is better than I expected and we had a well sleep there. Thanks for the services provided and will definitely recommend if you wish to try something new in Japan, e.g. tatami. The bad thing I can recall is the location of hotel. A bit far from JR Namba (take 20min walk). But near subway station-Nihonbashi (10min walk)

Nice location: close to shopping and dining places, 20mins walk from namba train station unless you wanna pay premium fare for Texas Hospitality: English not well they were super polite and courteous; they will try their best to give you the customer service you deserve Room condition: a little bit cramp for big guy like me, but if you wanna get the true Japanese experience, make sure book your reservation: tatami was great, complimentary roast rice tea was nice and hot water supply was all the way.

Perfect for a quick spot to stay.
Traveling to a new place alone is always exhilarating, especially if like me, my skills in the local language leave little to be desired. However, the staff at the hotel happily pointed out places to eat, see, and experience, as well as words and phrases to help my vacation go more smoothly. The rooms are Japanese-style, so for an American accustomed to more, it was odd at first. The rooms do offer plenty of extra mats and blankets which are easily accessible, so you get the desired level of comfort you like. An affordable price and ideal location (10 minute walk from Dotombori), I am already planning on a second stay here upon my return to Osaka.

Incredibly charming
We stayed here for four days before moving on to Tokyo. The place is family owned and every member of the staff goes well out of their way to ensure the stay is as hospitable as possible. The rooms clearly show the results of being a smoking friendly hotel but are still very well kept. The service is incredible and we found ourselves quickly growing attached to the family that runs it. Our Tokyo hotel was a high end western style high rise that, while nice, could never match the personal touch we experienced here. We missed the staff here within the first day of moving on. We'll be sure to stay here again on any future trips to the area, even if its a bit out of our way. The hotel is perfectly situated between the metro and the shopping arcades that define the Osaka area. We could not recommend this hotel more.

Best place for a traditional stay.
The Kuramoto hotel was a really great place to stay in Osaka if you would like to have a more traditional Japanese experience. The rooms have tatami flooring and you sleep on a futon. It can be uncomfortable if you are not us to sleeping on the floor, but it is still a great experience. The bathrooms are very modern and every toilet has a built in bidet. It is located in a quite part of down town, but you are located about a 10 minute walk from some of the famous shopping streets that they have in the city. I would definately recommend this place!

綺麗な施設でスタッフさんの対応も良かったです。 WiFiあるけど繋がり悪すぎて、子供のSwitchはネット繋がりませんでした。 大浴場は丁度良い温度で子供も浸かれて良かったです、大体のホテルだと熱くて入れないので助かりました。

구라모토 적극 추천합니다.
쾌적한 숙소로 여행에 만족도기 높았다. 매일깉이 새로 갈아주는 시트에 풍신함이 좋았다. 캐리어 2개를 펴고도 넉넉한 룸크기에 모두 만족했다. 욕탕이 특히나 좋았다. 위치가 다소 아쉬웠다.

전통 다다미방이여서 색다르고 대욕장이 아늑하고 조용해서 좋아요 꼭 이용해보세요. 주인분과 직원분이 친절하세요. 도톤보리와는 거리가 좀 있어요. 도보 10분 이상 마지막 날에는 근처 현지인마트를 이용했어요.
