Beautiful area
Stillwater Getaway is in a gorgeous area in Montana. Whitefish is a terrific town. The address and directions from VRBO sent us slightly out of the way. And there is no cell service in the area. The tents are good. Our boys got a kick out of it. The property itself is like staying in someone’s junky backyard. The constructed areas are deteriorating. It took a little wandering to find the better of the two docks. One was barely in the water and surrounded by trash, like fencing. The BBQ pit was full of coolers and random things. It wasn’t used the 4 days we were there, I’m pretty sure. The place is full of underbrush and junk toward the “mess hall”. I wish I could share pictures. They look so different When we arrived, the place looked deserted. The office/mess hall is not labeled, was locked, and has a ring doorbell. The bed was a futon and shallow mattress topper on a bed frame. The shower spewed water at the ceiling making cold globules of water all over the stall. It wasn’t worth the price tag or the “glamping” label. I needed to have brought our camping gear, washcloths, a lantern. The owner is a nice guy. But when I brought up a few of my concerns, he accused me of not knowing what camping is. I’ve been camping since I was old enough for a pup tent. My boyfriend lived off the grid for months, and we were not thrilled. The topping was realizing the owner’s 2 large dogs would sometimes roam the property. Luckily, our boys are used to large dogs.

A Dream Come True
This campsite was perfect for our friends for the weekend. We flew in so the walled tent, beds, bedding, and towels helped with our lack of packing space. The location was also stunning, right along the water with clear views of the stars overhead. Barron was also an excellent host. Friendly, communicative, and helpful. His pets Bo, Bo & Bo were also a treat!

I honestly cant say enough about this place. The hospitality and generosity of the host was incredible. It's quite rustic but there is some power at the mess hall. The views are stunning as well. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the busy tourist bussle in the are. 10/10 will definitely be back!
