Regretfully, the property is run down, dusty and just not a five-star experience. Bathroom fixtures and faucets were rusted over and not clean. Floors and carpets were visibly dirty/dusty; common-area corridors were unkempt and cluttered. "Loved this small hotel tucked into a hillside with gorgeous views. Dinner fantastic with attentive staff. Not a large menu. Just a few first and second course dishes prepared just for that night. At the chef’s suggestion we shared plates of all of them. The pool has great views and drinks. The hilltown Fortunago is on the list of Italy’s best preserved and carefully maintained. Town so tiny nothing to do but enjoy the perfection of place. No tourist shops in sight. A true get-away. Excellent...

"Not at all what we expected. The property is a very old, poorly maintained large house. The arrangement is not very sensible as the rooms opened right into the breakfast room which was also the owners living room or office.
It was an extremely casual BnB shall we say. But not very comfortable or cozy. We left as easily as possible.
The food was really good, however. But the dinner service was clearly straining the staff. "

"No words to describe this place and the people that runs it. Everything was perfect, the scenery, the food, the atmosphere...but most of all the feeling that you've been treated like family. Marco and Eleonora are simply the best one could ask: attentive, professional , caring. Me and my daughter were treated like one of their own and that feeling says more than a million words. We will be back for sure and thanks again Marco and Eleonora for everything ."

"this castello (castle) is a gem of a special place and time. visit www.castellobeccaria.it for more information of the astounding history - a place where Giovanni de'Medici who became pope Leo X in 1513 - 1521 was staying as well. Giovanna and Silvio the owners will happily show and tell you all about it. Silvio - 3rd generation owner - and his wonderful wife Giovanna are working hard to restore the castle to its former beauty and incorporate beautiful guest rooms with modern amenities....
