"The only reason I gave it a 4 is for necessary updates to the rooms. There is no outlet next to the bed you have to reach back behind the bed frame and unplug either the clock or the lamp to plug in your phone charger. Which is inconvenient because the other plug is feet away from the bed. The front door to my room needs winterization. I could feel cool air coming under the door and had to block it with my luggage and shoes. The air conditioner/heater worked well and I could set the temp but it was permanently set to 'auto'. Hearing the heater turn on and off all night was extremely disruptive to my sleep. Although the bed and pillows were clean and comfortable I did not sleep well either night unfortunately due to this. The bathroom is extremely outdated (tub liner had been re-caulked about a dozen times, couldn't change the water spray volume from intense rapid waterfall to something with less pressure, etc). But the room was very clean. I could actually walk around bare foot and not have dirty feet like other hotels. I can't emphasize enough how friendly the staff was!! The complimentary breakfast was nothing to shake a stick at but for free, I'll take it. Coffee was good which is sort of most important - ha!"

"Cliff House Maine – Spectacular Views, Beautiful Accommodations, and a Few Areas for Improvement Overall, our stay at Cliff House was excellent. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the ocean views are spectacular. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and extremely comfortable. The bedding was especially luxurious, and the sheets felt fabulous, although they unfortunately wouldn’t stay on the bed! The dining experience was somewhat disappointing compared to the rest of the property. The food was beautifully presented, but the flavors and overall quality were average. Given the Michelin recognition and expectations, we anticipated a more memorable culinary experience. The spa itself was amazing. Beautifully designed, luxurious, and exceptionally well appointed, it was one of the highlights of the property. The spa services were definitely above average and very enjoyable, although not quite exceptional. The staff throughout the property were lovely. Housekeeping and valet deserve special recognition for their outstanding service, friendliness, and attention to detail. The restaurant waitstaff were good and attentive, while the front desk service was adequate but didn’t quite match the warmth and polish we experienced elsewhere. Despite a few areas for improvement, Cliff House is a wonderful destination. The spectacular setting, beautiful accommodations, and exceptional spa facilities make it a memorable coastal Maine getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay"

"Well kept grounds with nice, pleasant looking building and room. Clean newer looking rooms that are just adorable. They even supply a toaster, along with the other basic amenities. Ample parking. Close to so many restaurants and shopping centers. Nice simple breakfast. Coffee was not as strong as we are used to having, but nice taste. Assortment of teas also. It was very clean and really pretty on the inside of the breakfast area/reception area. Nice tables to eat outside by the breakfast area. There are also trays that you can carry food on to your room. There isnt a laundry room that we saw or read in amenities, but there is a very nice washeteria just a few miles away at most if you do need to wash clothes. The office is open till late about 9 pm and they do carry snacks and sodas/ water which is convenient. It was easy, check in and check out. The staff are nice when you have to interact with them. They're not that talkative, which I feel like they're just trying not to disturb anyone esp in the morning, which is great with me, esp listening to the loud conversations from my family from the time they get up till we leave the room. The air unit worked great. There's a nice playground. I don't have kids but it looked good. They had a pool, looked nice, we didn't get in, it's too cold right now. It's supposed to be heated, but I'm not a big pool person. Really didn't have time to use a pool. But the place was delightful, close to so many nice areas And a great value."
