About this property
1970s holiday home with beach at the road's end
Located between Saksild and Hou on the Kattegat coast of East Jutland, this authentic 1970s summer house underwent a careful renovation in 2026. The warm wood finishes and original style have been preserved, and the house is perfect for families and couples who want to slow down and spend their days at the beach, in the garden, and enjoying each other’s company.
Inside, the wood and warm tones set the mood. In the evening, you’ll naturally gather around the fireplace, and there’s room for both quiet reflection and togetherness in the same spaces. The house has a private annex on the property, which is locked and not part of the rental, so you’ll have the house and garden all to yourselves.
The large terrace with a half-roof is the house’s main outdoor space, and you can sit there both in the sun and after sunset. The garden has plenty of room for play, a trampoline, and a fire pit. The beach at the end of the road is wide, white, and shallow, and early in the morning you can walk down there to watch the sun rise over the sea.
Hou is located 3 km to the south, featuring a marina, the Raalingen restaurant, and a ferry to the car-free islands of Tunø and Samsø. Fru Møllers Mølleri is a farm shop with a bakery, butcher shop, restaurant, and ice cream parlour. Denmark’s oldest mini-golf course is located in Saksild, and Aarhus is 25–30 minutes away by car or via the local train from Odder.
Saksild Strand, a neighbourhood in Odder, is home to this holiday home. Lerdrup Bugt Vildtreservat and Hjertestien I Odder reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Minigolf I Saksild and Bryllupsskulpturen. Ask Stenen and Kjaersgaard Voldsted are also worth visiting. Make sure you don't miss outdoor adventures like cycling and hiking. Visit our Odder travel guide

A vacation home straight out of the ’70s and ’80s:...
A vacation home straight out of the ’70s and ’80s: it looks, feels, and smells just like that era (especially if you’ve stopped by the Groft bakery in Saksild beforehand). There’s enough dishware, though it’s a bit too small for six people, especially in rainy weather. The yard was more like a construction site with materials stored there.
It’s a short walk to the kid-friendly beach.
