Sweet Waterfront Cottage, 4 person limit


Soundhouse is a sweet, vintage cottage on the usually quiet North Pond with it’s own sandy beach. SoundHouse has been owned by the same local family since 1972. The owner resides nearby. It features a shady front porch and a back porch with a great beautiful waterfront view, including your own little sandy beach. Great for kayaking, paddle boarding, an easy walk to ferry, museum, restaurants, shopping and “downtown” waterfront with fabulous sunset views. Limited to four people, no pets, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 queen beds, one twin, a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. There is an outdoor shower and washer/dryer, but experience old Ocracoke by washing your dishes by hand, no dishwasher! Parking for two vehicles. Enjoy the soundside beach but please respect neighbor’s beachfront property lines, it’s not a community beach. We DO NOT allow powered or sailboats tied up or moored by guests of SoundHouse. This is strictly enforced. Smoking is not allowed inside SoundHouse. Smoking is allowed outside in the yard only. Events and large parties are NOT allowed in SoundHouse. Do NOT store or charge electric bicycles on the property. There is space and charging available for golf carts.

All guests of SoundHouse are STRONGLY urged to purchase cancellation insurance when you book through VRBO. Things happen. You want to be protected.

Please do not clean fish inside SoundHouse. Please bag all waste and dispose of at local recycle center. NO POWER BOATS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COVE.

Lovely vacation spot

Kewl spot near the sound and walkin' distance to stuff

This spot is great for anyone, but perhaps especially families, as there's a calm private beach area for kids to swim in and walkin' distance to the action is very straightforward.

Some of the best sound-side action you'll find on Ocracoke

This spot is nice, clean, has everything you need, butts up against the sound, is in a great location, etc. You and your kids will totally dig it.

A slice of heaven on the sound

This location can’t be beat! We loved being right on the sound! Swimming, kayaking all available right out the back door. This house was clean and perfect for our family of 4. We can’t wait to come back next year!

This was our second stay at this property- just the right size for the two of us, very clean, lovely quiet spot directly on Pamplico Sound, and close to shops in Ocracoke.

Island Life

Such a relaxing vacation for our family. We really enjoyed Sound House for the amazing location. My kids could swim right out back and it was excellent for kayaking! The beach was gorgeous and lifeguards were on their game! Debbie was extremely responsive to our needs. Would 💯 recommend!

Relaxing

Our third stay. Always peaceful and relaxing. We love that it is shady, we can kayak in the sound from the backyard and bicycle to all the cute shops. The things you need to cook a fresh seafood dinner from the local seafood market are stocked. Check in and out is always a breeze.

Perfect location

I love walking into this cheerful house it just feels like home. This was our second year at Sound House and reservations have already been made for next year! The house is always spotless and very comfortable. We love being on the sound and the North Pond is a perfect place to kayak and fish. We also like that this house is on one of the quieter streets with less traffic and hardly any walking traffic.

Peaceful

This was our second stay at this peaceful, clean house and we have already booked another stay. It is on a quiet road with a roomy kitchen, comfortable dining area and family room. My favorite part is sitting in the adirondack chair with my feet in the Pamlico Sound drinking my morning coffee watching the pelicans fish. It is a favorite get-away home away from home that is an easy bike ride close to the fun shops and delicious seafood.

Perfection!

The Sound House exceeded all our expectations! Pictures don't do it justice. The traditional beach cottage has lovely decor, a well-equiped kitchen, and a wonderful view and access to the sound. We loved being able to launch our kayaks from the backyard. We having been coming to the island for 35+ years and this is now our favorite cottage. Perfect for a couple's getaway!

Perfection

This property is perfection. Spotlessly clean, exactly as listed, within golf cart range of village and your own private beach. Property management has thought of everything right down to bedside and bathroom throw rugs. Cannot stress enough how quietly perfect this property is… but if you are looking for a party house, this is NOT it.

Sweet old-fashioned cottage

Nice simple cottage, old Ocracoke style. We stayed here during the cloudy, rainy week of Tropical Storm Debby but North Pond was protected from the wind, so we could enjoy it during the rain breaks- swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The place was clean and had most of the things we needed to cook. The property manager was very responsive and kind when we had a small issue. The main thing we missed was having a screened porch, which seems essential for Ocracoke, or at least a covered porch would have been nice with all of the rain. Overall, a great cottage and location.

Family Week

The cottage was perfect for the three of us. The back yard on the sound was wonderful. Debbie was helpful with a couple questions we had. The only thing that was a disappointment was the outdoor shower. It was lacking hot water and water pressure. Some in our group really enjoy the outdoor shower while on a beach vacation.

Our second year here, won’t be our last! Such a gem. Love the beachfront, love the cottage. Rented kayaks from Ride the Wind and watched the fireworks over the water for the Fourth- amazing! Will definitely rent them next year, it was so fun to explore around the coves. Would love more clothespins for the clothesline! Debbie is a very helpful hostess and was quick to respond to my questions. Thank you!

Cozy and quiet

Mid March. Excellent for 2 or 3 people, very good for 4. Quiet, close to everything and yet secluded. 2 trucks parked just fine, wouldn’t try 3. Sound is in backyard although we didn’t walk down this time, spent all our time beach fishing, not catching. We only visit in the off season so the entire village is peaceful and quiet. DK how it is in the summer. This was our 3rd stay at Sound House, works well for us older folks who now have to forgo lots of stairs. Debbie is a great host, always fast responses and personable.

Truly a sweet cottage

This cottage is truly sweet in all aspects. It is located in an area that is close to the main street but far enough away that it is quiet. The sound location is beautiful, we watched the birds every morning while we drank coffee while sitting on the deck. The interior is very nicely decorated in a slightly retro and sophisticated beach vibe. The furniture and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen had the perfect amount of space, dishes, cooking and serving utensils. The outdoor shower (with warm water!!) was also convenient to rinse off beach sand. There was even some starter soap, paper towels and bathroom tissue. The house was very clean. I had the opportunity to communicate with the owner in the weeks prior to our stay and she was very quick in responding to my communications. I would definitely consider renting this house again.

Wonderful Time!

What a wonderful place! The minute you walk-in the front door you are greeted with windows that look out into the Sound. Such a serene feeling! The house was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. TV & Wi-Fi worked well and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic! My son & I absolutely loved being able to walk out into the water and playing on the little sound side beach. There are lots of hermit crabs to watch play out there! Watching the boats come & go was also a fun way to pass some time. The house is close enough to walk or bike to anywhere in town. We spent many nights walking to the ice cream shops & T-shirt stores. We had a great time at the Soundhouse and would suggest it to anyone looking for a great spot on the water!
