You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Cottage, great for a couple or small family.

This cottage has a wonderful front porch for enjoying sitting outside and relaxing. The view is of Teeters campground. It was renovated in 2018 and a second bedroom was added in 2019. It is a two bedroom (queen in the master and bunk beds in the other)we do NOT provide sheets, one bath, open floor plan with living room and kitchen. The kitchen is very basic, if you are planning to cook gourmet meals, this is NOT the place for you. Ocracoke has many wonderful restaurants. The location is within walking distance to Silver Lake and the shops and restaurants and is spitting distance from the British Cemetery. The beach is a mile from the rental. There is a Smart TV in the first bedroom and living room with internet and cable. You will need your own Netflix, Hulu or Amazon account, and for those that are not tech savvy, we have cable. We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there it is not us renting it. We only go through VRBO/Home Away.

We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance. If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30 pm and check out time is 11:00. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

The Buccaneer

We always love staying at the Buccaneer. Ellen & Russell keep this plus their other two cottages in great shape. Always clean and location is just 2 blocks from down town.

Fantastic family vacation!

This cottage is perfect for our family of four. It has everything we need and is priced affordably. Central location, cheap golf cart rental, outdoor showers, and dog friendly are all great perks of this rental. We did not have any issues but the owners are very responsive and friendly so I'm confident they would take care of any problems if need be. Thanks for a great week, we look forward to returning soon!!

Great Spring Break

Loved the house. Cozy and had all the amenities we needed. Love the location. I enjoyed taking my coffee across the street in the morning to watch birds in the friendly old tree that stands sentinel for the historic cemetery.

Wonderful stay!

We loved our stay at the buccaneer. It had everything we needed, including the availability to rent a golf cart. Renting a golf cart really enhanced the stay, allowing us to travel around Ocracoke easily. The location was great, super convenient to the village. Ellen and Russell were fantastic hosts, super responsive and very helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. I would love to come back another time!

Great homebase for a long stay on Ocracoke

Ellen and Russ were fantastic and super friendly! The location of this cottage could not be beat. It is within walking distance of everything in the village. The cottage had everything we needed for our week-long stay and was nicer than the pictures give credit to.

This is the third time that we are staying with the Grants family. We love to stay with them, because the neighbor is really quiet, the house is really clean and cozy. we feel like we are staying at home. We love it.

We enjoyed our stay. The host was communicative and being able to book last minute was easy. Plenty of room for us and in a great quiet location. Being able to sit on the large porch and drink coffee in the mornings was a plus! Plenty of windows to open or close depending if you want to enjoy the sunshine or enjoy privacy! Cute little getaway

Was a very nice place had everything thing we needed. upon arrival one of the air conditioners was not working I texted the owners and they were very responsive and came over to fix it right away. they very nice people and talked briefly to me and my mom about restaurant recommendations and what's there is to do. There was even a golf cart on site to rent if you wanted to Over all would definitely be back thanks again

Sweet stay

A great little cottage at a great price. Nicely located to walk everywhere. Kitchen had everything we needed when we did cook in. We did not take advantage of it but there is a cart right on site. Our only complaint was the living room TV. The only channel we were able to get was PBS.

We just wrapped up our third incredible stay at The Buccaneer cottage on Ocracoke, and it certainly won't be our last! This property has truly become our home away from home, consistently delivering everything we look for in a vacation rental.For our family of four (husband, wife, 17yo, 10yo), The Buccaneer is the perfect size. It offers ample space to relax and unwind without feeling too big or too small. When not eating out, it has a nice kitchen to start the day with a good breakfast and a charcoal grill for chicken and steaks for dinner! The location is unbeatable, putting us right where we want to be to enjoy all that Ocracoke has to offer! What truly sets The Buccaneer apart, though, are the hosts. They are incredibly friendly and provide great communication from booking to checkout, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. A huge bonus is the option to have a golf cart rental waiting upon arrival. This immediately gets our island adventures underway without any hassle.If you're looking for a fantastic Ocracoke getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend The Buccaneer!

First Time to OBX

We were so pleased with The Buccaneer. This was our first time traveling to the OBX so we weren't sure what to expect. The house had everything we need (bring your own sheets and towels!) and was the perfect size for us (2 adults, 2 children). The outdoor shower was so handy for beach days. The location was great for being close to all things in the village, and the golf cart rental was great. Communication with the owners was quick and easy. I'd recommend this spot to anyone! Not a single negative experience, not even bugs!

Perfect for a family with small children

We had the best vacation on Ocracoke. The rental was updated and clean. We had all we needed and there was plenty of space. Our girls loved having their own room (very spacious too.). The porches were great, giving us plenty of room to lay our shells and beach toys to dry. We didn’t need to cook much so the kitchen provided everything we needed. Although this unit is close to the road, we heard no noise at night. We felt safe and my daughters even played in the front (side) yard while we watched from the porch. I highly recommend staying here. The owners were so helpful and very friendly.

Lovely stay as always

This was our second time staying at the Buccaneer and I'm sure we'll do it again. The place is the perfect size for a small family and has everything you need. We love that there's an outdoor shower and a charcoal grill. The induction cooktop takes a little getting used to, but we're pros now and it's super fast. Only complaint was the wifi signal was pretty weak - my little guy likes to stream TV in the living room and we couldn't get anything to load. Other than that, it was absolutely perfect! Extra points for being close to the Back Road. We love the scenery (and shade!) on our morning runs and little excursions. It was super convenient to have the golf cart to zoom around in also! Will definitely book again.

Cute and convenient

This was our first time staying on the island and we were there for a family event. The Buccaneer was the perfect size for 2 - 4 people. We rented their golf cart to get around the island and had a great time driving around. We also were lucky with the weather and got 3 great beach days. I knew going down there was not a full kitchen. The convection stove was difficult to cook on and there is no oven / dishwasher. If being able to cook is important to you be aware of these difficulties. Otherwise it was fine.

Overall my wife and I love this place, it’s clean and cozy. If you’re use to a 3000 sq. ft. place, this is not for you, but if you want cozy & intimate, this is it. It was our 2nd stay, and it will likely not be the last. I would give 5 stars but my only complaint is the AC. I know not everyone needs or uses air, but I feel the window units are just not powerful enough. It was fine in the bedroom if you shut the door though. The outdoor shower is great and private and the owners are very good at responding to messages.
