Charles is the kind of customer you cannot please. He is from Texas where the temperature goes up to over 100 degrees and everyone has air condition in their homes. My husband is also from Texas and told me it gets so hot there during the summer all the houses have to have air condition. The apartment is in Alameda, CA in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. It is just 2 blocks from the beach. When Charles checked in he asked for air condition. My husband explained to him that the weather in Alameda is usually mild and 95% of the homes does not have air condition because its not needed. The thermostat in the apartment showed 68 degrees. THAT IS NOT HOT. Charles closed all the windows, the blinds and all the curtains. My husband told him to open the windows so the cool air could come into the apartment , that is what everyone does in Alameda. He refused to open the windows even though he stated in his review that he had to leave all of the windows open all day and night. Charles was concern that someone would break into the apartment. My husband told him this was a very nice neighborhood and no one breaks into apartments around her. We owned the building nearly 20 years and never had a break in. The city police department does a good job of preventing crime in the area. Charles also complain about a 2 year old boy that came with his mom to visit his grandparents that lives in another building nextdoor. The kid cried for about 5 minutes. They stayed about 2 hours for their visit and left. How could he call a 2 year old boy a brat. Seems like Charles does not like kids either. I have had some very nice people who rented the apartment and give me very good reviews. Sometimes you run into people like Charles.

Yes, there was some unusual noise in the apartment above that week. The couple who live in the apt. above; he is retired and she is a school teacher. They have twin daughters who goes to college in New York. The twin daughters came home for a visit that week to visit their parents. The family spend a lot of time together in the living room right above the apartment where the VRBO guest was staying. They were happy to be together and a little noisy. The daughters have already return to New York to continue college. If they come back I will talk to the parents about the noise. It should be no problem; they are a very nice couple. I have a very good relationship with them; and if they are aware that they are a little bit noisy when their daughters are around; I am sure they will stop the noise so that they don't disturb the neighbors in the building. You cannot hear the neighbors next door or any noise in the building unless someone is playing loud music and have their windows open. This Victorian is in the Gold Coast neighborhood, which is a quiet area of the city of Alameda, CA; and most of the people who live in the area are educated professionals. There is not a lot of noise.
