About this property

A Luxurious Oakland Hills Retreat

  • Our home is a beautiful modern sanctuary with a dramatic, expansive view of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay. With an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, the first floor is perfect for relaxing, cooking, and peering off our deck at the forested canyon, cityscape and skyline. The first floor also has a remodeled bathroom, two bedrooms (both of which can be used as in home offices) as well as a dedicated office space. Downstairs, we have the master bedroom and bath, laundry, and fourth and fifth rooms plus bath that are perfect for children. In our backyard is a small grove of California's iconic redwood trees, which make the home feel like a protected forest refuge. We love our home and hope you will too.

    Minutes from world class hiking trails and bike routes, it is on the edge of forests and parks in the Oakland hills while only minutes driving from the East Bay’s trendiest neighborhoods. We frequently go on hikes or bike rides directly from the house and love exploring Sibley Volcanic Preserve, Redwood Regional Park, and Huckleberry Botanic Preserve. The home is a 15-minute drive to downtown Oakland and 30 minutes from San Francisco. Experience the restfulness of an elegant, modern home in a natural setting with glorious sunsets, with the world-class amenities of the city only a short drive away.

The worst!!! The owners of the property are just terrible humans. The place was absolutely filthy when we arrived - crumbs everywhere, hair in the bathrooms, chicken on the knobs, etc. We didn’t say anything initially and just cleaned and cleaned the place because we were staying for a while and don’t want to be dramatic. The owners were dismissive and rude when we finally mentioned it. They lied and said we left the house dirty on our way out. Luckily I saw from the previous reviews that they had lied about a renter leaving laundry room dirty. They failed to disclose that there was a hole in their vents that had been taped up that leaks lint and had made a previous renter pay extra for cleaning. I took photos and videos on my way out to show how clean the place was knowing that they would lie about how dirty it was - which they did. Beware!! The house definitely has a rat problem. The internet went out for 2.5 days and I spent over 4 hrs working with the technician and trouble shooting the problem not to mention missing work because we had no internet. When the rats ate through the septic system wires, the alarm went on at 4am and wouldn’t stop. This time I refused to spend another few hours helping to repair this. The owners located in Spain were furious, but this is not what I am paying for. I am not your house manager! We had a terrible stay and actually went and stayed at other places while there to get away from this house. Beware of this property!!!
