The house is beautiful and clean. The owners are extremely friendly, and genuinely want you to have a comfortable stay. A little more attention to the small details will go a long way is making this a five-star property. Specifically, a little more attention to the kitchen small appliances, better quality knives (dull knives are very dangerous), and other small details. Provide toilet paper and paper towels.

Perfect extended family home

We rented this beautiful home for our family to stay in during our son’s wedding. It was a wonderful experience being able to have parents, grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins under the same roof. My fiance and I booked this house for a long weekend trip with all of our friends to celebrate our upcoming wedding and it was the perfect place for all of us! We had 22 people stay and everyone gave multiple compliments about how big and spacious every room was. The pictures truly do not even come close to showing how spacious every single room was. The pool and hot tub also made for a great time! The walkability to the beach access and great restaurants is truly amazing when traveling with such a big group. We even had a friend leave a shirt on accident and the owners are sending it back for free, even though we offered to pay for shipping. They truly are great communicators and made the whole check in and booking process simple. I would 100% book again!

Oak Island Runcation

We brought down a group of runners and their families for the BAM Oak Island Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1 mile. This was the PERFECT house to accommodate our group. Very clean and pretty. The hot tub was a huge hit! The kitchen and dining spaces were great for preparing and serving large meals. The bedrooms and living spaces were very comfortable! The owners were great and quick to respond. Will definitely stay at the Sandcastle house again!

We had our entire bridal party stay here and it was simply perfect! Everyone had their own space. We enjoyed hanging out in the hot tub, watching basketball in the living room, and even playing some of the games they provided! The hosts were so nice and always responded quickly. Great Family House

Larry's house was comfortably big enough for our family of 18. It was beautiful, well-equipped with comfortable beds. The location was beautiful. Larry was super responsive. The elevator wasn't working when we arrived and he was at the house in 20 min working on it. A super nice guy, an amazing property and a beautiful location. We definitely recommend!

PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY

We used the house for Thanksgiving 2023. It was perfect for our family dynamic! The floorplan is awesome being that each bedroom is roomy and has access to it's own spacious bathroom. Of course we did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be well stocked with tons of equipment and great quality pots & pans--unheard of at a short term rental! The host was extremely responsive (when we had questions prior to booking) and very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend this property to others.

Celebrating or 50th wedding anniversary with our family

It was a perfect home for our children and grandchildren to gather- each family had their own room and bathroom, the bunk room was a bonus for the kids.We have a grandson who has cerebral palsy the elevator and large spaces helped him to be more independent. The weather that week was extremely hot and humid which made the pool and ocean a hit! There was a special feel to the home, we loved it and will cherish the memories made. Interesting thing, 8 years ago we gathered as a family in a large home on the beach in Oregon, its name was also Sand Castle- the name must be good luck for our family! Fall Get Together

This was our second trip to the Sand Castle and it won't be our last! The property is in a great location, an easy walk to the beach, and had ample space for our group of 24. The kitchen has everything you'll need to feed a group, and enough space so that multiple cooks aren't bumping into each other! It was unseasonably warm for part of our stay, so more people braved the pool than last year as well. Thank you for having us again, and we look forward to next year already! ♥

Spring Yoga Retreat Success

Great property with loads of bedrooms, plenty of space for gathering, huge kitchen, and ample decks for stretching out and enjoying the area. Just a short walk to the beach and pier to boot! We had 12 people and were all comfortable, managed yoga by the pool one day, and a few other practices on the upstairs deck area - with birds chirping and breeze blowing. Being in a neighborhood was a nice touch, for sure. Excellent communication with the owner and had everything we needed for a successful gathering. Would have liked to have a bit more large service ware for serving meals, but we were able to manage. There is some ceiling damage in the main level living room but nothing that took away from being able to enjoy the house and the space. We did have a few people in the pool but did not venture into the hottub this trip. Excellent source for seafood is a few blocks away and local provisions under 2 miles - a great spot and a relaxing weekend gathering. Would definitely stay again!

Unacceptable accommodations

Our trip at oak island beach with family was so enjoyable. However, our rental was unacceptable ….. The house itself was big and spacious and well stocked. However, it is roach infested, very dirty mold in the bathrooms and showers many of the appliances were not working or broken and very unclean. The ice maker not working, one side of oven was broken, hot tub and pool needed attention, outside grill not cleaned rusted out. Though the owner responded to our concerns the problems were unresolved. I have stayed and rented many properties. This is the first time I’ve had issues of these concerns and so I would not stay here again or Recommend this home to anyone.

Family vacation 2025

It was as good as advertised, plenty of room to relax after a long day at the beach. Very good kitchen with the double refrigerator’s & microwave’s extra large stove. Just a great place for our group.
