Splendid half-timbered house in the main street. In Western Europe, houses like this were the "villas" of the rich in the Middle Ages.
Typical is the "jettying" of the upper floors. Their surface is larger than the ground floor. Why people built this way? Because taxes had to be paid per square metre of the ground floor. #Architecture #TroveOnTuesday #Trovember #History

A very pleasant place. We had some trouble with the heating (too hot), but it was fixed the next day, Beautiful setting, with a moorhen living in the pond. It is about ,7 miles to town, but the walk is unpleasant. The restaurant in the hotel is quite mediocre.
