The house was cozy and inviting. Felt the history all around me and the breakfast made and served by Joan was great. We recommend this place for those looking for that historical b&b experience.
Elegant 200-year-old home updated with an en suite BR, AC. Wonderful hosts, Joan & Steve; excellent gourmet breakfast served in their historic dining area. Highly recommend for a quiet, historic, picturesque, comfortable, friendly stay.
We had a great stay at Centennial House! Myself and my 14 year old son stayed for one night -- the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was fabulous!!
This historic property is very nice. Beds are comfortable. The hosts are very welcoming and communication was very good. Breakfast was outstanding! I highly recommend this property and hope to return for another visit someday.
We were looking for a bit more of a fall getaway spot while visiting our son at UMASS. This b&b is a 40 minute drive away but it’s a beautiful drive. It’s also very close to the boarder of vermont and new hampshire. Lots of great hiking near by. Great bbQ nearby in millers falls.
Joan & Steve were very nice hosts. Their sweet dog Lucy was the cherry on top of our stay.
We stayed in the deerfield suite. In this suite we had our own private bathroom. Beds, pillows and linens were all very comfy. A big soaking tub was a nice plus too.
Breakfast was freshly made. Lovely baked scones with eggs, potatoes, and bacon our first morning and then banana bread french toast the second morning were fabulous!
We were welcomed warmly by Steve and Joan, plus their pup Lucy. It’s a very old structure with all the charm and intricacies those bring, but we found it rustic, historical and full of old world charm. The breakfast was exceptional, fruit cup, mango scones, and baked egg and zucchini. A lot of thought and care went into that breakfast, it was not a quick and easy meal to check the breakfast box. We will think of Centennial House first when planning future visits to Western Massachusetts.
What a gift to stay at a home away from home. The house is cozy. The owners are friendly the beds are comfy. And the food is delicious. I felt welcomed and well taken care of.
The owners of this historic home are exceptionally helpful with all of the details for a pleasant visit. The particular highlight is the marvelous and creative breakfasts, in our case especially the frittatas and raspberry turnovers, which we wished we could take home by the dozen.
Absolutely the best homemade breakfast…A gorgeous, old world B&B. Joan and Steve are salt of the earth people and take great pride in the service and comfort of their guests. A++ 10 out of 10
Beautiful antiques and historical home. It was very clean and beautifully restored. A step back in time except thankfully with air conditioning. The breakfast was delicious!
We had a wonderful stay while visiting our family here in Northfield. Joan and Steve have such a charming home and we were delighted and grateful to wake up to an amazing breakfast.
Lucy the pup was an extra bonus and the only thing I regret is not getting more pets in.
Looking forward to more stays in the future!
We were looking for a quick change of scenery to celebrate our anniversary. The location was far enough from home to feel like an adventure yet close enough to not spend valuable time driving. The home was well kept and the hostess pleasant. Previous reviews mentioned that she was well versed in the history of the area and able to provide recommendations for things to do. We did not have a lot of interaction and did not capitalize on this.
Our room was incredibly comfortable and pleasantly decorated. The bed in particular was just to my liking with crisp sheets and moderately firm king mattress. The electric fireplace added to the ambience.
The breakfast provided was three course including coffee, cider and water to fuel us for our day exploring.
I am not generally into revisiting places as I feel there are too many places to explore, but I would consider revisiting Northfield and the Centennial House in the future.
