killer NYC style hotel but in columbus

Not sure why this place has received so many 5 star reviews. Could be because there is a review index on the refrigerator that says reviews for vrbos/airbnbs are at a different standard and that a 5 star means everything was ok/acceptable. I disagree with this. I have the same expectations of a private booking as I do a hotel/resort. The best way to sum up the property is "lipstick on a pig." It has been superficially updated. Paint and new appliances/decor. Beyond that it is just plain old. Upon entering you get an intense musty smell. The back half of the house (bathroom/ kitchen) are actually sinking into the ground and sloped toward the back. The ONE bathroom is downstairs and tiny and the toilet actually wobbles. We overlooked the fact that the bathroom was downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs. The stairs are actually a safety hazard, very narrow and steep. They would not pass current building codes. There is a mess of extension cords in the primary bedroom and some do not work. The a/c for the house is terrible. 10-15 degrees warmer upstairs at all times. To cool the upstairs, we had to set the downstairs thermostat at 63 degrees, which created an icebox downstairs. When you look out the windows all you see is trash in the neighbors yard. The location is terrible. At the end of a sketchy street and throughout our stay there was a lot of loud traffic/people outside, especially at night. We did not feel safe there. Truly a miserable experience.
