Experience the ultimate waterfront sanctuary nestled amidst mature trees and direct river access. As the only vacation spot in the area, with a 1 kayak and 1 paddleboard ready for you! Thinking of bringing your boat or PWC? Engage in kayaking, fishing, nature hikes, or craft a romantic riverside picnic. As night falls, unwind in the hot tub or cozy up for game night by the crackling fireplace!
Guests can enjoy their freedom to check-in and check-out easily with keyless entry. Although I will personally not be greeting you at the house, I will be happy to help with anything before, during and after your stay. I am easily accessible all times via the app, text and email. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions regarding the property, your stay or the local area. Hosting is my passion and I would love to help with anything for your upcoming trip.
When you book, I will be sending you the house manual which has my personal recommendations for restaurants, activities to do in the neighborhood.
You're sure to enjoy the winding views of the Iowa River from this scenic property. When you want to be out on the water you can easily rent a watercraft from Coralville Lake Marina, 10 minutes from the home or Scales Pointe Marina, only a 15-minute drive from this home. If you have your own boat, the Mehaffey Boat Ramp is just 2 minutes from the property . We have couple Kayaks and paddleboards that you can use for free. Additional Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards can also be rented at Lake McBride State Park just 15 minutes away!
We often go swimming in the lake or the riverbed and feel completely safe doing so. Note that the riverbed is rocky. The short trail from the house to the riverbed has a gentle slope, except for the last portion, depending on the water level. There are 2 public sand beaches within 5 mins of the house that may be better suited for infants or small kids.
Enjoy road biking on the recently built Mehaffey Bridge Road trail or shred dirt on miles of mountain biking trails at Sugar-bottom state park just 5 minutes from the property. During the winter months, this is an excellent trail for cross-country skiing or snowmobiling. Just across the river, Suggarbottom State Park and Lake McBride State park offer excellent snow-shoeing trails!
Satisfy the history buffs with a trip to the seven villages of the Amana Colonies located a 30-minute drive west of this property. Settled in the 1850s, these unique villages deliver historic mid-western charm paired with modern shops, cafes, and restaurants suitable for all ages. Visit the downtown Hancher Auditorium, University of Iowa, performance hall hosting Broadway musicals, contemporary dance & classical music.
Opt for a post-millennial urban landscape when you take a 20-minute drive into downtown Iowa City. Attend a Hawkeyes game or tour the University of Iowa campus before dining at a gourmet restaurant near the Old Capitol Town Center.
This is also an excellent place for working professionals, traveling nurses visiting Cedar Rapids businesses and hospitals.
There are excellent restaurants, breweries and wineries within 20 minutes of the property! Be sure to check out my recommendations in the guidebook!
Guests will have 🔑access to the entire house, except for 2 storage rooms and outdoor shed.

This house was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway by the lake. The place was clean, cozy, and well-stocked, with a beautiful kitchen, washer, and a great fireplace for chilly nights. We loved the hot tub and spent a lot of time outside grilling and kayaking. The lake access made it super easy. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful, comfortable stay with some great outdoor perks.
We really enjoyed our stay. Relaxing, indoor and outdoor games, beautiful views, truly pet and kid friendly, kitchen had everything we needed and lots of great little details. We were looking for a staycation. We didn’t have to leave for anything.
Stayed for a few days to combine a mini vacation while visiting family in the area. Very relaxing vibe looking out on the river/lake. We had some family over for a BBQ and it was a good setup for that. Kitchen had the basics. A few maintenance issues but hosts were communicative. I enjoyed the few days of R&R. I am familiar with the area but North Liberty has grown a lot and has a lot to offer nearby, or it's a short trip to Iowa City.
Our family of 6 adults and 2 dogs really enjoyed our stay! There is a lot to enjoy here. The hot tub is great, several outdoor games to play. I enjoyed relaxing in the hammock and making s'mores in the fire pit. Would recommend this Vrbo listing to friends!
The house was very nice as described. View was amazing. House is well stocked with many additional touches. Robes and slippers for hot tub are one example. Kitchen had everything you could need. Great setup. Highly recommend. Owner was very responsive. Thank you.
We very much enjoyed our stay for a long weekend while we were visiting family in the area. Our adult son was with us so it was nice to have two separate living areas where we could spend time but also have a bit more privacy than most shared spaces offer. We loved the digital board game and shared several rounds of monopoly! The view is top notch and the kitchen is well appointed. Comfy beds!
Ignore the unfriendly signs from the neighbor - we never saw him despite signs he leaves near the entrance. It's worth noting that it is VERY dark if you arrive at night - we used our cellphone flashlight to navigate the stairs.
It was a great place to stay good location easy access to get in the house and a beautiful view. Very easy to work with the host and was very quick to respond with any questions we might have hadWe will definitely be back.
Great property & location! Loved the waterfront access for fishing & kayaking! Relaxing screened in porch to enjoy the outdoor views without the bugs! Great communication with host, who answered several of our questions promptly. Highly recommend this property!
Great location a lot to do. Easy to relax. Described as pet friendly but a lot of restrictions on pet activity. Easy check in and check out. Seems like the home needs some upkeep. Pictures don’t reflect actual condition Overall fun time with family.
Absolutely the most wonderful and beautiful place. Gorgeous home with everything you could possibly need:) Host is wonderful to deal with!
I would give this experience hands down best of anywhere I have stayed
Great weekend. The cabin was well decorated and in a quiet location. My sons kayaked to a local beach where we met them. They also slept on the extra porch bed, just because. Close to restaurants and stores.
My stay at this property was so lovely. It is in a beautiful setting on the river. The house itself was very well decorated with LOTS of amenities. I felt like I was staying in a resort. The beds were so comfortable, and the place was very dog friendly. I hope to come back in the warmer months so I can see and enjoy more of the wildlife. I had such a relaxing visit, it was the perfect retreat for a dreary February.
Beautiful home with extra attention to detail. High quality amenities and thoughtful touches. High end hot tub. Relaxing with a pampered feeling. Host was kind and responsive.
The property is absolutely beautiful. I wish it was warmer when we stayed and would love to go back in the summer. The hosts were easy to get a hold of with questions and replied promptly. The kids still enjoyed the outdoors with plenty of activities with outdoor games. The thoughtfulness put into the decor and snack box had all of so happy.
Words cannot explain how beautiful and zen this lakehouse truly was! The views were incredible and the house was beautiful and clean. There were so many games/activities for our kids who range in age 6-14. It checked off all of our boxes and had a little something for everyone. This will be our annual family vacation destination and it even includes waterfront access and canoeing boats to enjoy! This place truely is a little slice of heaven in Iowa!

Great place to escape and gather
5 Stars. Everyone loved the place, with fantastic views in a quiet, secluded neighborhood. There are endless games for inside and outside to keep everyone entertained no matter what the weather. I loved the well-equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and the views from the screened-in porch. I wish the weather had been a bit warmer so I could try out the kayaks.

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
there are no lights going down the 20 stairs to get to the house, also when it rained the dirt on the steps turned to mud and the handdyman slipped and almost fell, the screened in porch door doesn't lock making the room accessible to animals and anyone who wants to enter also one of the sliding glass doors doesn't lock either. The house had 4 tvs but none of the remotes worked thus nothing could be watched . This property is rented out by 5 seasons Homestay. Not by a person. very unhappy with customer service. WE have stayed at least 5 Vrbos have an excellent ratings and this is the worst one ever.
