Everything was lovely! The host was welcoming, the cottage was adorable. Amenities were great (fire was on when we got there, warming blankets on the bed). So cozy! Perfect place to snuggle up during the coldest weekend of the year. We'd definitely stay again.
This is a host who obviously loves to do just that - host! We had an awesome night staying in the cottage. It is so cozy, clean, and stayed so warm during a cool rainy fall night. Beds are super comfortable & the shower water is plenty hot. Lots of clean towels and other essentials offered. Super lovely place.
We had a wonderful stay at this comfortable, cozy stone cottage. The space is filled with beautiful antiques, and the fireplace made our evenings especially warm and relaxing. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the host was responsive, thoughtful, and communicated so well throughout our stay. There were so many personal touches — it felt like everything we might need had already been anticipated and provided. A truly charming and welcoming place. Highly recommend!
This cottage is adorable, comfortable, and the hosts think of everything. It's very cozy, there is a lovely assortment of teas, and there are some goodies. This was our second visit, and we will definitely be back.
Charming cottage, wonderful hosts!!Two over-60 grandmas, one from CT and one from MA met to sit in front of the fire with a cup of tea and catch up. This was the perfect setting to simply retreat and relax.
We had a wonderful overnight visit. The fireplace and the warm beds were a perfect night away from the family over the holiday. Thank you for making our anniversary special.
Such an incredible VRBO. The place was immaculate. The beds exceptional and the retreat was such a delight. Great food close by, with an incredible atmosphere.
We enjoyed a much needed weekend of R&R at Windy Top. It is wonderfully quiet and so enjoyable to brew some tea, read & sit by the fire. Thoughtful touches throughout the cottage make it the perfect spot for a relaxing, cozy, getaway!
Beautiful setting. The cottage is beautiful, very well stocked. Bed extremely comfortable and well dressed. Fireplace intoxicating. Had a
great stay , highly recommend hope to return soon.
Situated in a rural area of Connecticut, this English-syle cottage is a gem. Furnishings and wall art were thoughtfully displayed through-out. The gas-fired fireplace added a warm (needed that spring week-end!) glow. Enjoyed thoroughly.
This was the perfect one-night getaway for two busy moms. The decor was cozy and inviting, and the fireplace and remote-controlled candles gave the cottage a wonderful ambiance. The beds we comfortable too. Having a refrigerator and some appliances was very handy despite there being no kitchen. We will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Windy Top Cottage. The owners were responsive and kind and answered any questions we had. The cottage was like something out of a storybook. It was quaint, peaceful, and welcoming. The beds were very comfy. We loved the old board games, books, and cozy fireplace. The decor had so many special touches. You can tell Ken and Dawn take pride in their home and enjoy sharing it with others. We would definitely considering visiting again!
Everything about our stay was fabulous- from leaving the lights on to welcome us with a personalized sign to excellent coffee service and a picnic lunch! Our hosts were so accommodating and so very welcoming. The location was great for us to drive to travel to neighboring cities, and relaxing at the cottage was a great way to end our days of exploring. The master bed was so comfortable (and refreshing after a long day of driving when our flight got cancelled!). There was excellent wi-fi also so we could still connect when we needed to, we would recommend Windy Top to anyone!!
This was the best thing I’ve done in a long time. The kuels are very attentive to the needs of their guests and very helpful. It’s a great quiet place to relax and unwind from the stress of life. The proximity to hiking is incredibly close to the cottage. If my travels allow me, I will have to come back here.
The place was exactly as it was on the advert. A quintessential cottage in the middle of greenery.
Attention to details was impeccable. I loved most having a jar of honey in addition to the usual white sugar, Splenda and Equal as sweeteners; box of tissues on all bedside tables; supply of plush 2-ply toilet paper instead of a single ply … these minute details were greatly appreciated!
We had a grand time! It was a cozy, quiet and comfortable respite from our daily concrete jungle routine.
Many thanks, Dawn & Ken.
Upon first sight of the cottage was like stepping into a fairy tale back in time, Hansel and Gretel. The outside was so pretty, surrounded by trees and flowers and a chipmunk was there to greet us. But stepping inside was amazing, tastefully decorated and many amenities at your fingertips. A plate of cookies with real whipped strawberries 🍓 frost.. delicious. Ken and Dawn were friendly and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend.

This was a quick overnight for us, visiting family nearby and out to dinner, and still it felt like we'd escaped to a different time and place, yet with full amenities. Amazing. I wanted to stay up all night reading by the fire but forced myself to bed, to discover the king size i'd only had time to glance at was a luxurious heated nest. Morning by the fire, luxurious coffee and tea options, served breakfast (for extra charge- worth it!) and i was ready to face the drive home. I look forward to booking again when we can stay longer and explore nearby hikes. What a delight. Owners very responsive and helpful but plenty of privacy. Read what they send, ask questions/generally stay in touch and you'll be good.
Windy top cottage was the perfect destination for our girls trip / birthday weekend. We had such an amazing time enjoying the quiet mornings outside, disconnected evenings in the cottage, and the beautiful town of Granby and surrounding areas. The cottage is even cuter than the pictures show (which is already so cute and what drew us in in the first place). There was even a welcome sign with our names on it when we arrived!
It is obvious that so much time, thought and love went into creating this beautiful space and the details have not gone unnoticed. From the amazing room service offered, to the most extensive collection of bathroom essentials and local recommendations, Windy top surpassed our expectations and was our favorite stay to date. If you are a fan of high tea you cannot miss Dawn’s beautifully curated “picnic lunch for 2”. It was prepared and ready for us as soon as we arrived with the most gorgeous table setting and she so graciously clears everything away so quickly we barely knew she was there, it was like magic!
Thank you so much to Dawn and Ken who made us feel so welcome from the second we arrived to the minute we left. If you’re thinking about booking windy top cottage let this be your push to just do it!
This was a very nicely appointed and decorated stone cottage reminiscent of ones we had stayed in while touring the British Isles. While there was no running water or bathroom on the first floor there was a full size refrigerator and the hosts had provided two pitchers of water for our coffee and tea. And there were lots of flavors to choose from. There also were apothecary jars of candy. Terry robes and slippers were also provided.
The cottage is part of the detached garage next to the house where the owners live. When we drove in Ken came out to greet us and had all our names on a welcoming slate at the door. But we felt very independent in our cottage and did not see him again. The whole property is very lovely.
It was the last night of a trip with a lot of driving and we had driven almost 500 miles that day so we didn't have much of a chance to enjoy our cottage or the area. I would like to come back again and explore this more rural, hilly, and wooded area of Connecticut.
