As soon as you enter the house through the typical Frisian door, you’ll be captivated by the charm of the Kapitänshuus.
Numerous nautical and genuinely antique elements adorn the house both inside and out.
When you catch sight of the alcove, you can immediately imagine how the captain must have looked forward to his cosy home,
his berths and cabins, his bunks and cabins, the stylishly romantic Kapitänshuus,
where even guests immediately feel a warm, homely Frisian welcome.
Here, elegant flair meets rustic simplicity, and tradition meets modernity.
Available on the 1st floor: 1 spacious double room with a large double bed (2 x 200 x 100, where you’ll sleep soundly), a large closet, an elegant writing desk, and a small rose-patterned bench, as well as 1 smaller bedroom (for 2 additional guests) with 1 bed (200 x 80) and a sleeper chaise longue (190 x 90), placed one behind the other.
The ground floor features cosy solid wood flooring.
A special feature on the ground floor is the original alcove, which provides an additional bed (180 x 90), a wood-burning stove, a large dining area with carefully selected, high-quality tableware, and a very well-equipped kitchen with great attention to detail, featuring a dining nook, a kitchen island, a retro stove and a nostalgic range hood, as well as an endless, sweeping view over the dike and the fields to where you know the sea is already very close by.
The lighting in every room is beautiful, as are the various views of Nordstrand’s natural surroundings.
In addition, the large living room—with its own library, 2 sleeper sofas, 1 recamier, various seating options, and views to the north, south, and west—offers plenty of space to unwind and relax.
There are plenty of toys available, too.
The beach chair and the anchorage behind the house offer a fantastic view of the sunset, and the lush, blooming garden invites you to enjoy it with all your senses—especially in the cosy, sheltered corners.
The joy of the four elements is rounded out in a particularly romantic way by the fire pit, which can also double as a grill.
You can follow the sun (or avoid it) all day long as you move around the house; a wide variety of seating areas in every possible direction are perfect for this.
At mealtimes, the ship’s bell can be rung to call everyone together.
From the kitchen—which includes everything you’d expect in a modern holiday home, even though the house itself, with its original furnishings, captivates with its authentic uniqueness and numerous original features—you can access the utility room, which features an additional sink, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, etc., the rustic bathroom with a toilet and spacious shower, and—through a side door—the garden, the approximately 500 m² dyke property with lovingly landscaped rose gardens and numerous seating areas around the house...
The Kapitänshuus is a semi-detached house in a virtually secluded location, as you’ll have the place all to yourself.
Nordstrand’s main swimming area, Fuhlehörn, is just over a kilometre away. Numerous shops and bakeries, a bike rental shop, and a Töpfert tea room are also within walking distance. The tourist office, a bank, and a playground are also nearby. The prime location high on the dike in the western part of Nordstrand ensures easy access to all these amenities while offering undisturbed, pure holiday relaxation.
From the peninsula, you can easily embark on excursions in all directions—whether by water to the islands and Halligs of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, on foot, by horse-drawn carriage, or by boat or ship; even a sightseeing flight from Husum is sensational. Or perhaps you’re drawn towards Denmark, to St. Peter Ording, or to Friedrichstadt—you’ll be spoiled for choice.
