Thanks for your review! We enjoyed having you here. As remote as we are, TV and internet are very expensive, slow and spotty. We do have a fairly modern cell tower though, so phone data works well, especially on Verizon. As technology gets better and cheaper, we're working on providing a better internet connection over wifi.Though remoteness comes with its annoyances, our guests love the nature, wildlife, quiet, and other perks of remoteness out here.

The gentleman who left this review was upset that staff asked him for his credit card when he had provided it online. We do this to make fraud more difficult, but when the gentleman refused to produce a card, we made a decision to allow that in this case. He explained to staff that he was going through some difficult things in his life, and everybody was sympathetic (though we must admit we feel less so after this review).

We're sorry that you had this experience with us! Most guests love their stay here, and find the cabins clean and comfortable. We do take slight issue with the details of what you wrote--for example, the soap we use contains no organic compounds and cannot possibly get moldy. Of course, our priority is to keep our guests happy, not to be right, so we immediately found you other accommodations. As we explained on your arrival, the cabin in which we had intended to place you had some water issues (we were just turning on the water after the winter), so we had to hurriedly prepare a different cabin, in which we had not been planning to accommodate guests quite yet. Because this happened shortly before your arrival, there may have been some water still visible from when we cleaned the countertops. The guests who stayed in the cabin two nights after your arrival found it clean and comfortable. This was an unfortunate incident that indeed did not reflect our normal standards of operation, but we are not sure why so many inaccurate details were included in your review.

We loved having you as guests, but we're sad your stay wasn't perfect! We wish you had let us know about any/all of these things while you were here so that we could have addressed them for you. We would have loved to know which mattresses you had a problem with. Every cabin should have a bath mat; if we missed that, we would have immediately fixed the issue. We're going to check the windows, but if you had pointed out which ones were missing screens, that could have been immediately corrected as well. As for the wi-fi, when people have problems with it, usually, they're connecting fine; they're just finding it painfully slow. Which it is. We're continuing to work with our ISP on fixing that, but it's a common Alaska problem outside of the cities.

We're sad to hear you had a bad experience! We wish you'd talked to us and told us what your specific issues were. We work hard to maintain our cabins and take pride in them, and guests generally love their stays here.
