"It was a very nice resort. Everything is easy walking distance. They do have a shuttle if you do not want to walk. Very close to the beach. Not a big beach but it is nice. It you want a massage their are people on the beach to do it plus if you want to do a tour there is someone on the beach who can arrange them. They are much cheaper than the hotel tours. Food was good and specialty restaurants were very good. Two pools and they were very nice. They have activitives arranged throughout the day for things to do. Leaving the resort is a little costly. Uber is the cheapest but can make arrangements through the hotel or on the beach if you want to go somewhere. Cocoa Beach is not too far and is ver nice and tours can be arrange there also. Shop around for tours to get your best deal from the above places. Airport about 1/2 hour away. "

"Pictures dont do this place justice. Everyone was super professional and kind. The beach view room was amazing. There was a family of monkeys hanging out, and an iguana on a limb that was literally the size of a komodo dragon, no joke! Walking distance to many other beachside bars. At night the beach has thousands of hermit crabs so walk light. Will stay here again, no disappointments."

"The Occidental always has a variety of activities scheduled and playing beach volleyball in the sunset with the surf in the background everynight was the highlight of our day. A great place to relax and be athletic!"

"The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The food at the buffet was good and had a decent variety each day. The biggest downside is that they did not replenish the buffet as much as needed. At dinner, the main protein was out and my husband asked how long it would be to bring more. The woman behind the counter seemed agitated and told him 5 minutes. He decided to wait and a few minutes later another person asked how long and the woman told them 10 minutes. My husband ended up getting something else, but it just seems the buffet was not being managed well that night. The rest of our trip it was fine and the specialty restaurants are even better! The beach is tranquil with soft sand and gentle waves. The spa was incredibly relaxing and I had a fantastic massage followed by the dry and wet saunas. We took a taxi to Tamarindo (30 minutes) so my husband could surf. It is a cute town and very safe. Definitely recommend checking it out. Overall we were very impressed with the resort and would definitely return. "
