About this property
Cottage sleeping up to 6 in 3 bedrooms, peaceful. 1 mile to Newport Town Centre
Bwthyn Holmws is a cottage converted from a 200 year old barn with all amenities needed for a holiday be it a few days or a month! The cottage is semi detached (cottage next door with same owner, sleeps 4) and the owner lives down the lane. Each cottage has its own private patio, and this one a lawned area, but guests are welcome to use the grounds on the farm. There is ample parking, and the cottages are situated about 200 yards from the main road, so it is relatively safe for children and pets. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and the other 2 are each twin bedded. One is on the same level as the living room, one is upstairs and as you can see from the picture is 'in the eaves'. We are always being complimented on the comfort of the beds! The bathroom has a separate shower and a large corner bath, it also has a large cupboard housing the boiler and a washer/drier. The kitchen is full equipped with an electric cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster. There is plenty of crockery and glasses. The living room has a television/DVD and a small stereo/CD. The cottage is fully centrally heated - suitable for all year round accommodation. The farm is non-working, but we still have land which is farmed, so at times there will be tractors, combine harvesters etc going past, but occasionally, and maybe not at all in the time you are with us. It is generally very peaceful. This is a 'dark sky' area - there are no street lights at Holmws, and you will see the stars at night. There is plenty of wildlife, particularly birds (from garden birds to swifts and swallows to common buzzards and red kites). We are in the Pembrokeshire National Park, the only coastal national park in Britain. From Holmws you can walk to the coast path (about 15 minutes) or up to the common land on the slopes of Carningli. Locally we have many ancient woodlands and waterways - perfect for walkers - and many of our beaches are dog friendly too. we are about a mile from the centre of Newport - a village sized town! Newport itself has all that you need - butcher, wholefood shop, post office, pharmacy, small Spar, iron mongers, gift and paper shops, small clothing shop, hairdressers and a tourist information centre. There a 4 pubs, 3 of which do food, a boat club (member only, but guests can be signed in on request), several restaurants, all in all a lovely bustling atmosphere. Dinas Cross, only 2 miles also has 3 pubs, a cafe, a petrol station, small corner shops. The town is steeped in history - our Town Charter predates that of London - you may be lucky enough to see the Town Crier, or the Mayor and Mayoress decked out in their red robes and chains. A ancient kiln has been found under the memorial hall which is currently being renovated as an 'interest' site, we have a cromlech, Carreg Coetan, the town houses an amazing dolls house museum - come and explore! North Pembrokeshire is a Welsh speaking area - but oh so friendly! It is a land of Celts, standing stones, folklore, witches and wizards, tall tales and real history. We have mountains - but more like rolling hills, a softer landscape perhaps than North Wales. The county is surrounded on 3 sides by sea - many many beautiful beaches, some with amenities, some accessible only by walking. Cardigan bay is renowned for seals, dolphins and porpoises. Bring a camera (or phone!) and your binoculars if you have them. The nearest local beach is Aberrhigian - about a 20 minute walk. Traeth Mawr (Big beach) is a 10 minute drive with plenty of (ticketed) parking. The smaller beaches accessible by car of Pwllgwaelod and Cwm-yr-Eglwys in Dinas are also within a 10 minute drive. Newport has a links golf club, tennis courts (on line booking). The Parrog in Newport is popular for sailing, kayaking etc. I could go on and on - but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (Laura) on 01239 821030 or 07974 789223

Lovely cottage very clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Laura was a wonderful host, very friendly and thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great location, very quiet. Cosy cottage, beds were amazingly comfortable! Everything you'd need to make it a great walking holiday is close by.
Laura was great, very welcoming.
I would certainly stay again.
The cottage was well equipped, warm and very cosy. The beds were very comfortable. It was ideal for our 3 small dogs as it was very secure. Our host was lovely and we will definitely return. Thank you.

Lovely cosy dog friendly cottage. Well located for exploring Newport.
Cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The owner very friendly and helpful. A great base for walking the coastline and surrounding hills.
The owners, Laura and Andrew, were always helpful and available making our stay worry-free. The cottage was quiet, well appointed, and warm. Our three-week stay was a pleasure.
Lovely, comfy cottage. Good location for surrounding countryside. Swallows and horses for neighbours. Superb, clear night skies. Hosts very friendly including their dog😀
Great location if you enjoy walking. Laura was very friendly and helpful and made suggestions where to eat. Had trouble paying the balance because the app wouldn’t accept any of my debit cards. Laura helped and I ended up using my laptop,

Delightful cottage. Ideal for the beach and glorious scenery.
We had our daughters wedding nearby and this was ideal for our family to stay at. Laura was so accommodating and after our long journey it was great to have the welcome pack of tea and milk ! The cottage was very well equipped with all the home comforts, making it a great base for us. Although there is only the one bathroom, with a bit of organization we all managed to get ready for the wedding with ease. The only downfall was .. our visit wasn’t long enough, would love to return for a lengther stay in the future. Thank Laura for all your help and making our stay so delightful. 😀
I actually don’t think the photos do this property justice. We had everything we needed, loved the garden and fields behind. Great location, lovely local walks to the beach. Laura was great and tended to our every need. Highly recommend and will be back!
Comfortable and spacious, albeit a little dark. Easy to access from the main road but far enough away not to be disturbed by it. Very dramatic part of the Coastal Path to the West was just a short walk which gave access to almost deserted beaches. Newport just a mile away (but best reached by car) had several pubs and other eating places - just opening up again after Covid.
Thanks to the lovely Laura for a wonderful stay at her cottage. We had a great stay and would return. Very private and peaceful patio, in the heart of the magical national park. Thanks very much!
We had a lovely time here. Fully resourced, comfy bed, heating and hot water readily available. Would definitely stay again especially as we could have our dig with us.
Laura was a very friendly host. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Ideal base for walking along the coastal path and exploring the surrounding area.
This cottage was homely, comfortable and well equipped for all our needs. It is a short distance from the sea - we could see it from outside the front door and it has ample parking. The owners are friendly and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend it.
Nicely located about a mile from the lovely village of Newport. The cottage is very welcoming, comfortable and very clean. COVID procedures followed to the letter and even in these difficult times we felt very safe and secure.
The cottage had everything we needed and our hosts were excellent. The weather turned colder after a couple of days but the cottage was very warm and comfortable.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property for anyone wishing a relaxing holiday or one, like we did, mainly walking on the Pembrokeshire coastal path which is ideal from this cottage.
Thank you Laura for a great relaxing week.
