My family and I had a wonderful vacation staying here in August. The home and property are just as pictured and perfectly welcoming to guests; a fully equipped kitchen, easy checkin/out process, space in drawers and cabinets to unpack and feel comfortable.
We all enjoyed the pristine house with a large kitchen and delightful clean swimming pool. The land and river are gorgeous and we can’t wait to come back to do more exploring.
House is amazing and pool is great. Location is very central but also totally secluded. First floor got pretty hot without AC but was manageable with fans. Would suggest providing more pillows and adding a shade/curtain for the French doors in the master bedroom. Will definitely consider staying again next year!
This was our second time staying at this property. We came back after both the kids and grandparents said that they so enjoyed the time we spent here last summer. Great location, incredible views, lots of space to be together or spread out both indoors and outdoors. The owners clearly take great care of both the property and equally of their guests. Very smooth process and we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this property. Thank you for hosting us.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the farm. The home was tastefully decorated and we especially enjoyed the antiques and artwork in the home. The bathrooms are just luxurious and lovely. The pool was wonderful and Peter was quick to answer any questions we had. We did find the downstairs to be quite warm and would have loved to see some ceiling fans. Also, the river is beautiful but a bit hard to access and the boat launch area did seem to need some maintenence and cleanup up as there were downed trees and branches and we decided to not rent kayaks as getting them to the water would have been difficult. Overall a beautiful, historic place to enjoy!
We absolutely loved this impeccably maintained and beautiful historic home and property. Our family of three generations (grandparents, parents, and 3 kids ages 15 - 21) had plenty of room to spread out, hang out, and access to plenty to do on the property and in the surrounding area. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this vacation home. Incredibly well appointed, everything you need is right where you would expect to find it: kitchen, linens, supplies, etc. Peter was responsive and easy to work with. The home is secluded and you feel like you're on your own island (albeit a peninsula). We found great nature walks, hiking, kayaking, wildlife/bird watching and tons of seafood all within a convenient distance. Thank you so much for sharing your vacation home with us.
My wife, two teenage sons and grandma recently spent a week at this amazing property. It's a one of kind place. It's extremely private but at the same time about 10 minutes to two great little towns with fantastic restaurants and activities. The pictures really don't do it justice. It's set up above the river with beautiful views and on a huge parcel with walking paths through oak trees and prairies. We were surprised how much time we spent in the pool, it's warm and does not use traditional chlorine so you don't have any irritation to your eyes or skin. The interior of the home is just as great. It's very spacious with a huge kitchen with large island, multiple sinks and a professional grade Italian range. The living room area was a lot of fun to play cards and games and enjoy a nice wood fire on the cooler nights. We highly recommend staying here!
It was a very special place! The homestead and the property around it were so beautiful. Our grandkids loved the swimming pool!!! It's in a great location so that you can make day trips to see the beautiful towns around. We'll never forget our tip to Trails End!
Exactly what we were looking for, an off-the-beaten-path beautiful home with all the creature comforts for a relaxing summer vacation. The home is well-kept, clean, wonderful amenities, and the surrounding environment can't be overstated. It's beautiful.
We have been renting this house with friends for 3 years. Beautiful pool, great location with a dock, clean and well stocked with essentials. Comfy beds with AC upstairs.
The photos do not show how warm and charming this farm and home truly are. We loved being here and enjoying the pool and other amenities. We've been coming to the Maine coast for forty years and this was one of our best times. The location is close to everything we like to see and do during our vacation.
This is such a gorgeous property, and our family enjoyed a wonderful break here. The heated pool is a huge plus, and makes even rainy cool days fun for the kids. House was cozy, spacious, and spotless. We rented a boat for the river and enjoyed canoeing. Couldn’t ask for anything more!
We had the most amazing time. This property is stunning, so special, and even more incredible than the photos can show.
Peter was the best host - communicative, kind, and super accommodating. I hope to return someday.
Couldn’t have had a better time at Trail’s End. Beautiful home on the most breathtaking property you could ask for, absolutely restorative time with the family! Thank you so much!!
Trails End is beautiful outside and in. The house is thoughtfully arranged and perfectly suited our multigenerational family's needs, with a first floor bed and full bath, well-appointed kitchen, and a layout that allowed for gathering and space. The house and pool are clean and the owner's expectations are clear. We immediatley felt at home and were inspired to care for the house and grounds as we could tell others before us had done. And we loved the quiet, the birds, and the hassle-free access to the river and easy hiking trails, lovely walks and fields, the pool, and of course the surrounding towns. Thank you for a dream week.
We are repeat customers of Peter's property in Maine so that really tells a lot about a place. It truly is a wonderful place to bring the family for some together time. Something for everyone to do no matter the age. It holds memories for us that will last a lifetime. Thank you Peter for sharing such a magical place.
This was our first trip to Maine and Trails End far exceeded our expectations! Conveniently located near many quaint fishing villages, lighthouses, Pemaquid Beach and Boothbay Harbor, we had plenty to do. On quieter days at the house, we enjoyed the peace exploring the property, swimming, fishing, cooking lobster fra diavlo and baking wild blueberry cobbler and currant scones :) in the well-appointed kitchen. The evening sunsets were spectacular shining over the field and pool and right into the kitchen. What makes this home particularly unique and special is the history. We were fascinated with learning more about the original family who built the home in the 1800s and imagining what life was like for them on this extraordinary land. It’s incredible the love and care and exquisite detail Peter put into every inch of the property. We hope to be back again very soon.
This is my family’s fourth year at Trail’s End and it seems to get better every year. It’s a beautiful property and location that both couples and families can enjoy. Peter is always great to work with and the property and home are very well maintained. We’ve already rebooked for next year!
Second-year in a row renting this property and it was such a great time. Beautiful property and the house was amazing. Clean, lots to do, and a short drive to restaurants, ice cream etc. Will definitely be back next year!
One of the most beautiful pieces of property I’ve ever seen. Magical. The house was lovely. A trip I shall never forget. So close to so many wonderful destinations.
Pictures don't give this peninsula justice. It literally felt like our own island, yet was so close to great dining, beaches, hiking, you name it. Peter was incredibly accommodating and we're already discussing returning to the house!
