We loved the cabin!! It was so peaceful and quiet. The place was super clean and very well taken care of. I am a Texas history fan and I was truly blown away by all of the historical stuff around the house. This is a short drive from Houston. We will definitely stay here again when we need to get away from the city.
My wife and I both loved our stay in the little cabin on the hill. We were surprised by unexpected unique gifts that were left by the owners And were made on the farm. We would love to return again and bring our family Next time. We enjoyed walking the property and hanging out on the pier at the pond where you could see through the clear water and see all the bass swimming around. We seen deer in the mornings. near our cabin.
The property is gorgeous and the cabin was immaculate. I loved my stay; very quiet area, saw several deer and stunning sunsets. I will be booking again soon!!
One hundred percent recommended staying here. It was the most peaceful and relaxing get away I have ever had. Cabin on the hill is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely will be returning again for a longer stay.
My wife and I enjoyed this beautiful cabin / property. Everything was so clean and so pristine. The Cabin On The Hill is secluded from the rest of the property and truly has such a peaceful atmosphere.
My husband and I enjoyed the morning sunrises and evening sun sets over the beautiful hill top. We felt totally secluded, yet we had friends staying in another cabin on the property. What a piece of history!
My best friend and I planned a shopping trip to Round Top and the highlight was the Cabin on the Hill! We sat on the porch and drank coffee and we’re in awe of ALL the bluebonnets and wild flowers! They were breathtaking! We also enjoyed ready the history of the cabin and the surrounding areas. We have definitely planned on going back soon! Thanks for a memorable shopping trip!
Property was wonderful! Ponds were great. Only complaint would be to have a few more pots and pans. We did not want to leave the cabin to go eat somewhere else, we wanted to stay on the property and brought food with us, but really had to emprovise with the lack of cookware. Otherwise, it was wonderful, Thanks
We come to the Round Top Antique Show each season and this was our first time staying at the Cottage On The Hill. Absolutely beautiful location, enjoyed seeing the deer each morning and evening. Perfect amenities for the historic cabin.
We decided a week before to elope on the property and Mary jumped right in and found a minister for us and coordinated- they even had a welcome bottle of wine from their winery with a personalized note (very tasty wine!). Our time there could not have been more perfect! Thank you so much and we will be back in Spring!
P.S enjoyed the visit from the neighborhood labs!

Back to Nature
My husband and I stayed here for our 45th wedding anniversary.. This cute little cabin is just more than cute. You get to see a piece of Texas History while staying in a little cabin that has all the modern ammenities that you would ever need. We arrived and the cabin and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The cabin was very clean. There are rolling hills, two creeks, ponds, and a lake on the property. Fishing was awesome. The pond by the Cabin on the Hill was a winner. Line in ------ fish out. It was so much fun. The bed was firm but very comfortable. Linens were amazing. We spent most of our time on the front porch rocking in the red rocking chairs. So relaxing!! Listening to all the birds singing, watching a flock of sandhill cranes and a flock of geese flying over was so cool. We were able to hear the creek running from the porch of the cabin. My husband has back issues and has trouble walking. He was able to manuver the stairs but getting in and out of the claw foot tub was hard. We loved our stay at the Cabin on the Hill but would probably opt for the Hinze cabin, that has a shower instead, if we are able to go back. I hope we can go back again. Mary your property is amazing and we had a wonderful weekend. Thank you for providing the book with the history and all info that we needed. It was very helpful. After reading your book with the history, I wonder if maybe some of my Czech relatives could have settled in the area around Star Hill Farms.
This was our second visit to the property and it will not be our last! Our cabin was absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. I cannot recommend it enough. Although we did not get the puppy dog greeting we did last time, which we loved, we did get the complimentary wine! It was perfect as we watched the family of deer each night that had dinner with us. We have already booked our stay for the Spring and are looking forward to it!
The cabin was perfect, just as described. We seen deer right right out front while sitting on the porch drinking our coffee. We would love to go back someday!!
If you are looking for the perfect Texas weekend getaway…this is it. My husband and I went to the Round Top Antique festival and needed a place to stay. What we found was our new favorite Texas hideaway. The cabin is perfectly situated and we were so impressed with the attention to detail. From the welcome package, to the toiletries, to the map, to the things to do on the property (stocked pond, hiking, horseback riding), this was like a mini resort. We could have stayed on the property and been perfectly happy without going anywhere else. In fact, we are planning our next trip already…
Cabin on the Hill is a special place for us. Its quiet beauty never ceases to amaze us. We love cooking out there and roasting s’mores of course. It is also the best sleep you will get in your life!
We had an awesome stay. Friday we sat on the porch, reading books and sipping wine until dark. The cabin was very clean, nice and cozy. The coffee was very good. Saturday we enjoyed a huge thunderstorm inside... The light show was spectacular! We enjoyed the fact that we had no internet at the cabin and most of the time our cell phones didn't have signal (T-Mobile). It's a pretty place and you feel like you're all by yourself, even though the nearest cottage is about 100 yards away, you can't see it. We didn't want to leave!
It was perfect. To just disconnect was exactly what we needed. The kitchen with a stove is what served as the icing on the cake. I cooked pork chops au poivre with spinach that I served my wife at the picnic table as the sun went down
and we sipped our wine. Coffee in the mornings. We will do this again.
I do alot of travelling alone, and came across this beautiful! Words can not express how gorgeous this place is! The cabin was perfect, and exploring the land with the horses, and cattle topped it off. Being one with nature is how I felt! Can't wait to visit again, soon!
What a beautiful place for a quiet weekend. Perfect porch for a glass of wine watching the sunset, deer frolicking and fireflies light up the night. Comfy bed and loved hearing nothing but the frogs, crickets, cows and rain falling on the tin roof. We will be back!
