About this property
Carroll County Cabin Getaway near Amish Country and Pro Football Hall of fame.
This cabin is a great location as a home base for many adventures and interesting sites. Located 1/2-hour from all the attractions in Amish Country, and the same to Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, First Ladies Museum, McKinley Museum, great restaurants, etc. Atwood Lake East Marina is 0.8 miles from the cabin, with boat and pontoon rentals. In winter, cross-country skiers can go back-and-forth on about 12 acres of open land, or if you are a hiker, there are 43 acres with a open paths, plus another 40-acres of public wooded land that abuts my property. Live theater is available within a 90-minute drive in Cleveland and Pgh., as well as professional sports there. Those wishing to do none of the above, to just decompress for a few days or a week will find this ideal. Very peaceful, scenic, bucolic setting. You truly can do as much or as little as you want. Picture yourself sitting on the deck, glass of wine in hand, watching a beautiful Carroll County sunset, or watching the flames dance over the outdoor fire pit, which will be lit and waiting for your arrival. I have a discount of 15% for a booking of one week or more, and a 40% discount for bookings of 30 days or more. I hope you'll give it your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you. ALL are welcome, and I DO mean ALL.

Jan was very friendly and accommodating. Cabin was in a great location with a nice yard. Very private and quiet. Our dogs enjoyed the property and surrounding area also. Would consider staying there again!

Loved the quiet and less than a mile from Atwood lake marina. Will definitely be back!!!
Jan gave my wife a bottle of wine for her birthday and we really appreciated it but unfortunately we are both diabetics and don’t drink. Cabin is in a great location and the wild turkeys were awesome!
We loved our time at the cabin. We wanted to get away and enjoy country surroundings
Our stay was more than we expected...fire pit..grill...and great front deck was great surprise. Jan is a real class act...very personable and great host.
This cabin and surrounding property is perfect for anyone that enjoys quiet scenery, open spaces & hiking trails. Atwood lake is minutes away, The host is pleasant and accessible, but still offers complete privacy.andrestaurants just and
My girlfriend and I stayed at the property for a whole week. It was very quiet and peaceful. Out in the middle of nowhere with nature, it truly was the perfect place.
Cabin is located in a quiet, secluded area near the lake. We would have liked the Cabin to be more updated and given a deep cleaning before we arrived.

Anniversary
Cabin was nice but bathroom was dirty old soap in shower covered in hair but other then that had a quit peaceful stay
Our week long stay at this cozy, comfortable cabin surrounded by rolling hills was all we'd hoped for and more. We enjoyed waking to see deer and wild turkeys on the manicured lawn. The cattle in the adjacent pasture added to the bucolic beauty and serenity of the property. Jan is an excellent host who goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have everything they could possibly need or want.
Property was very well kept and had everything we needed! Jan is an amazing host, met up with me when I checked in and stopped by on the third morning just to see if I needed anything. When you go if it is clear in the evening, take a look at the stars from the "Porch area" because it's wonderful! If I plan to do anything that way again, I will be back!
I loved this place! The cabin was so cozy and so quiet. Mother nature did not participate so i didn't wander as much as i would have liked to, but I'll be back! The only thing the photos don't show are the few cows on the property. I was a little surprised but in a good way! The host is extremely friendly and inviting. It's a very beautiful property to visit. 10/10!
Overall, our experience was very good. For the price, this was a great get-away. It was very quiet and peaceful. We had minor issues with stink bugs here and there, and some areas of the cabin were dusty and a little dirty; however, sheets and blankets were clean and all accommodations were as advertised. The listing said it had a fireplace, but it is really a fire pit. For a small fee, firewood is provided--so that was extremely convenient. We will DEFINITELY go back. Despite the minor things, the price can't be beat.
I had a good experience at this property. It was the perfect retreat location for me. It is in an isolated location in the country and others (women especially) may not feel comfortable there alone. I grew up in the country so I loved it.
Generally the cabin was clean and well stocked. The bathroom - especially the tub - could have been cleaner. There was a bit of a musty smell (covered up with deodorizers and candles) and everything is a bit dated which could bother some folks. The price, the location, and cabin were good for me.

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Too Far Out
I found the drive to the cabin much farther out of the way than expected and it was a bit dark and uncomfortable for me. It was listed with a lady/family as the host but it was an elderly man and I felt my privacy and quiet interrupted too much. I left a day early and asked for a refund as I had other places to visit. The scenery was nice though and I enjoyed seeing the country views.

Very rough around the edges
The Bathroom and kitchen were clean. But cobwebs and dust adorned the corners, woodwork, and wall decor. There is nothing refined about the property. The finishes and decor are very rough DIY. The bed sheets are rough and scratchy. I would suggest bringing your own if comfort matters. You might feel more comfortable if you bring a security bar for under the door handle, cuz the door does not lock. It doesn't even latch, actually. The listing says the property is on a lake, but it is not. The listing says there is a fireplace but there is not. The listing seems to say there are bicycles but there are none. And the garage does not appear to be for guests since it is filled with a boat and other of the host's belongings. But the neighborhood is quiet, and not much traffic on the road. It's a place to sleep, not to spend time. Bring your own cooking oil.
Jan was very accommodating and provided just the right amount of interaction given he is in the building right across the way. Loved the trails and the very cool tour of his maple syrup operation. Kids loved the cat at the outdoors but then coming in to sat tv and comfy couch worked well for our 11 and 13 year old. They slept on the pull out w no complaints and we still had privacy in the one bedroom.
Also allowed us to use his boat for a day of fishing on the lake. He launched and picked up boat- all we did was fuel and fish! Much better deal then renting from the marina. Place had all the basics and we had no issues cooking or storing items bought in Amish country 40 minutes away... VERY QUIET which was exactly what we needed. Seemed to be multiple options for restaurants or take out in the area but we opted for home cooking and snacking on Amish country goodies...
Our dog came with us as a part of the family and there were no issues with this. Bill the cat was just friendly enough and fast enough to not get into any rubs w our bulldog. This was a nice no frills place to enjoy family, the peace & quiet, and my wife especially loved the humming birds. As with any place in the woods be ready for some spiders, ticks, and other wilds that might be encountered in or around a cabin... we had no issues but just saying- this is not suburbia it is the outdoor woods!
