Creekfront Family-friendly Cabin in Blue Ridge Mountains

The Cabin on Craig is located along beautiful Craig’s Creek near New Castle, Virginia.
Whether you are looking for a restful place to retreat or a home base for outdoor adventures, the Cabin on Craig can serve as your home away from home with its comfortable accommodations. The Cabin's fully stocked kitchen, two full baths, beds for 6-8 guests and beautiful surroundings make it ideal for many types of vacations. You don't have to leave the property to experience adventure or relaxation. Fishing, swimming, or canoeing are available to you on Craig's Creek which is just out the back door. The soothing sounds of the creek rapids can be enjoyed from the back porch or deck. If you are looking to relax inside the cabin it features beautiful views of an open hay field, and is supplied with games and puzzles. If you'd like to explore more of Southwest Virginia, popular hiking destinations such as McAfee's Knob, Dragon's Tooth and Roaring Run Loop Trail are just a scenic 30 minute drive away. Tinker Cliffs and Hay Rock trailheads are also less than 40 minutes away. College Universities nearby are Virginia Tech (55 minutes) and Liberty University (1 hour 30 minutes). You may also like visiting the towns of Paint Bank, Fincastle and Roanoke. The cabin is remote enough to be restful but also close to many attractions. We think you'll enjoy it!

Graduation Getaway

This was a perfect place for our family to stay and enjoy time together during the week of our daughter's graduation from VA Tech. We loved the view of the field from the living room and access to the river in the back.

Perfect Family Getaway

The cabin is clean and spacious with good access to Craig’s creek and the Jefferson National Forest. Lots of wildlife to observe.

Beautiful cabin in the mountains

The cabin was beautiful, clean and wonderfully stocked. We enjoyed the creek, fishing, peaceful evenings in the deck and watching the deer in the field.

Our family had an amazing time here. There are so many great things to do at the cabin without even having to leave. We have a toddler and it’s very kid friendly! The views were gorgeous and the river was so fun! We hope to come back in the future!

Great place to stay

The Cabin on the Craig is one of the best places I’ve stayed because of all the various activities available due to its location. Lots of kayaking, tubing and fishing right off the back yard. Also you can sit on the back porch, relax and just watch the water flow by. Lots of wildlife to view there too. If you like rustic, peaceful getaways, this is the place for you!

It's Perfect

This cabin is perfect for a getaway in the mountains to hike and enjoy beautiful Craig's Creek. The owners have thought of every detail to make it a good stay. We will be returning to this property.

Amazing time here at the cabin!

Amazing time here at the cabin! The amenities were awesome and the owner was very responsive. We were able to tube going down the creek with the tubes provided and had a blast. We saw river otter, a snack and many dear. Fishing was great also! Highly recommend!

Great respite

Pros: Very quiet, comfortable beds, pretty views and sounds from the creek, hospitable and helpful host - con: slight sulfur smell from the water at times (which was disclosed and harmless), but it didn’t last and we didn’t find it bothersome. All in all, this was a well equipped and nicely located cabin which I would recommend.

Beautiful and relaxing!

We rented The Cabin on the Craig for our son’s graduation from VA Tech. It was an hour drive but we appreciated the escape from the crowds in Blacksburg. We loved the beautiful surroundings and listening to the sounds of the river. Our hosts were great communicators and honestly thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. We should’ve booked a few more nights just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings!

Fun weekend getaway

The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed plus extras (firepit, kayak, canoe). Owner was very responsive and helpful. The creek behind the house was pristine and would make this a great spot in the summer. It's is at the end of a long drive and we were surprised by how many other houses were along the the way but the whole area was very quiet so it felt like we were the only ones there.

Rustic Retreat

Our stay was AWESOME! We were down for our niece's wedding and wanted to stay close to the venue and where our family was staying and the location was perfect. Everything you would need for your stay was provided. The kitchen was supplied with all the comforts of home. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable. The living area was spacious and the property had the most amazing view of the mountains. The feeling of the home was warm and welcoming. And the owner, Matt, was prompt and kind anytime I had a question. We did it all; fishing, hiking, canoeing, outdoor fires, and we had a perfect day for the wedding. I highly recommend Cabin on the Creek. You won't be disappointed. Michael and Janet Peter and Family.

Absolutely perfect!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. The property was just as described, except better. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking pans, utensils, everything you need. The hosts provided great information prior to arrival (I.e., make sure the address is in the GPS well in advance). Everything needed to make it a great weekend. We look forward to returning.

Fantastic cabin right on the water. As the listing states the water does have a sulfur odor but the location, cleanliness, and comfort far outweighed that one detail. Thanks for a great weekend getaway! Cheers!

Amazing stay

Took my wife and 10 year old to celebrate our anniversary and my wife post grad from MIT. We searched a lot and finally decided to rent this cabin although it’s more than a 6 hours drive for us. I dunno from where to start honestly I wish u could give more than 5 stars! Location is amazing. The cabin is absolutely awesome. The attention to details, the cleanliness… everything was amazing and well thought off. We felt at home, the cabin is very warm and is packed with food and games and books ! We loved the books choices. And to top it we found a bottle of Champaign in the fridge with a tag in it saying congratulations and happy anniversary! Reminded me when we go spend the weekend at our parents! It was an amazing gesture, the owners even left another sparkling non alcoholic one for our kid and that is very thoughtful. We as a family like to travel a lot and explore the country and for sure this cabin is on top of our list now to come back. Thank you for an amazing stay and for making great memories we look forward to coming again in winter this time. Highly recommended.

Childhood memories

We had a great time at the cabin enjoying the creek just as I did as a kid. I got to share this with my son which was the intent of the trip and we made some life long memories.
