Great location with everything that we needed that included overlooking big open space down to Cypress Creek, fire pit, BBQ. Converted barn is eclectically crafted and quite unusual…which we loved. Very close to Wimberley Square for great shopping, drinking, and restaurants. Close by (0.5 mile north is Wimberley National Mini-Golf ;very fun), Horseback Adventures of Central Texas (10 mins)…one of the best quality rides in the hill country I have ever done with incredibly athleletic and responsive horses that were raised on policross (!). Great area for road biking around too. This was a perfect retried for my adult sons and me.
We enjoyed everything about this property. My kids were in heaven and have already asked when we can go back. Great communication from Wendy. Amazing location. So many amenities for entertaining 3 kids. We stayed in July and never felt hot. Kitchen had everything we needed. Truly a little slice of heaven. Thank you Wendy for sharing this spot! Can't say enough good things.
Spent a week on the property The property was exactly as listed! We did share the creek with the neighbors one morning but beds were comfortable, air unit and fans kept the barn cool and we loved the outdoor shower.
Our second visit to Paul’s Barn and it gets better each time! TONS of activities for kids to occupy their time. Most popular this trip the ring it game, zip line, and foosball! Best private water feature in Wimberley! Owners are probably the most friendly we have ever had and can not wait to book our next visit!
We absolutely loved our stay! It was perfect for our basketball loving kiddos who can shoot hoops all day and play in the creek forever! They loved the rope swings, floats and kayaks and I loved the many porches and patios and swings for adults. The kids could entertain themselves and adults could relax. Only 1 mile from town so everything was close by. The kitchen had enough to cook on that we could make full meals. We'd love to go back! It was perfect for our active kiddos.
Our family enjoyed our relaxed weekend in Wimberly, we swam and sat outside and enjoyed the quiet. We had everything we needed, and our boys loved all the toys and sports to keep them busy! Wendy was a great host and was available for any questions we had. My boys asked when we could come back!
We had an absolutely fantastic time - the property is a hidden gem, secluded and serene, with a crystal-clear creek that provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. It was so refreshing to have a spot all to ourselves, away from the crowds.
The location is also a huge plus. It’s super close to the square, where we enjoyed delicious meals at local restaurants, live music, and even a fascinating glass-blowing demonstration. Everything we wanted was just a short drive away.
The environment was peaceful and the whole experience was incredibly fun for our family. Whether we were lounging by the creek or exploring nearby attractions, there was always something enjoyable to do.
We couldn’t have asked for a better spot for a family getaway. Highly recommend.
Beautiful property with steps right into the cool and clear Cypress Creek. Wendy is an AMAZING host! Paul’s Barn was comfortable for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) with all the outdoor adventures right off the porch and plenty of fun games to keep our young boys busy. Rope swing, platform to jump off, zip line, kayaks, and basketball court were all a hit. Hershey (the cat) was an added bonus for cuddles and entertainment too! We got lucky and didn’t have to share the creek with other properties while we were there. There is a small AC in the loft to help keep the barn cool at night and plenty of fans to use during the day for good air flow since the doors are not sealing the barn completely. Shower was outside and the kids thought it was hilarious. Wendy’s property is only a couple of minutes from Wimberly Square. Had a GREAT time! Memories were made and relaxation was achieved. Thank you Wendy for sharing your little slice of heaven!!
Adorable, fun cottage on a cold-water swimming creek!
We had a great time at the guest house on Cypress Creek! I found that the listing and associated pictures were very accurate, so it was exactly what I expected and hoped for!
Communication: Wendy was easy to get ahold of. She gave us a lot of space and privacy, but was available if we needed help.
Indoors: The guest house is so cute. It's thoughtfully decorated, and designed for kids, adults, and pets. There are games, toys, dart board, and foosball table, plus a covered porch with a basketball arcade. Lots to do in case of rainy weather. Although the house is not airtight, we did not see any bugs or spiders in the house at all. Loved the outdoor shower! The beds are up a steep staircase, but the kids loved it and were comfortable enough. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker. If you are staying more than 2 nights, I recommend bringing additional coffee, paper towels, and toilet paper, although there are 2 grocery stores very nearby.
Outside: There's so much to do outside, but we spent most of our time at the creek. The water was historically low when we went, but it was still 6 feet deep in the main swimming hole, and was cold! Loved the rope swing, kayaks, and floaties! There is a basketball court with pickleball, zip line, and other yard things. Plenty of space to sit outside. The main house is right next door, but no windows face the guest house, and we felt that we had enough privacy.
Overall, a great stay, and will come again!
Great cabin with lots of stuff to do on-site. Very close to downtown. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying here again. Also, Wendy (host) was great!
We had a girls trip and it was perfect for all 3 of us. Place was fantastic and Wendy was incredibly nice and made sure we had all we needed as well as communicating very well!
Perfect spot for a glamping experience. So much for entire family to do. Host was very kind and accommodating. Reading reviews was helpful for expectations. Would definitely go back.
Upon arrival we were concerned that we might not get the comforts we were desiring. Our fears were quickly overcome and the place far exceeded our desires for a fantastic family get away for four. Our two boys(8&11) were very sad to leave and are already asking when we can return. Loved the place!!!
I took my 2 teens to Wimberley for a getaway weekend. This open-air cabin was just what the Dr. ordered! My son did the rope swings so much he has blisters all over his palms, but not one complaint from him, he had an absolute blast. The kitchenette was a nice, simple size. Consider it like glamping with the best scenery you could imagine. We definitely want to come back next year. Deserves all 5 stars!
We had a great time at this property. Pictures do not do it justice. Kids loved the creek and all the amenities. Zip line was a favorite as well as the rope swing. I would caution anyone listening to music. The sound does carry and appears louder to neighbors than it seems. Overall the kids made great memories.
Great Glamping Experience in the Texas Hill Country
Me and my family went to this property to view the total eclipse and enjoy some time away from home for a weekend. While we did catch a lot of clouds for the event the rest of the stay was quite enjoyable.
We had no issues staying cool with the great airflow of the property, keeping the mosquitos out of the barn, or making simple meals.
We enjoyed the fireflies and my toddler had a lot of fun following the local cat and playing at Old Baldy and the Blue Hole Playground (both only a short drive away). We didn't experience the amazingly clear creek due to how cold the water was (just being cautious for the toddler) but would definitely have taken a dip in the summer.
Finding a secluded place to get away during these unusual times was so difficult. When we read the description and saw the pictures for this property, we felt we finally found the perfect place. The description and pictures sold us immediately but didn’t prepare us for how truly beautiful this small piece of paradise would be in person. It is obvious that Wendy, Saul & Paul love their land, the outdoors and playing. We were close to town but you’d never know it which made it so easy to relax in peace. This getaway was EXACTLY what we needed. We’ve already looked at our calendar for a return stay.
