Very clean upon arrival. Tons of sleeping arrangements. Very cool property for adults, children, and pets. Tons of amenities and fun on the property! Also close enough to whatever you may need off property. Will absolutely be returning!!
We wanted a fun place to take our son and his family for a short vacation, and the chalet was perfect! Everyone felt very comfortable, and the rustic feel of the cabin was great. We had a wonderful time at the pond, especially taking my grandson fishing for the first time. Overall, it was an awesome trip!
We were totally entertained our whole stay. The children 6-12 wished they didn't have to leave. Was also dog friendly with a fenced in yard. Would love to come back and be able to swim in the pool, and canoe on the pond.
The property was beautiful and there were plenty of bedrooms for our family of 9. We wished the temperature was a little warmer so we could do more outside activities, but we had a great time.
Rented this location as it had plenty of rooms for everyone. Large spacious rooms with clean and comfortable beds. Plenty of bathrooms. Enjoyed by all. No handle for stove 1st night was fixed next day, was informed at check in. No lighter for grill had to improvise to light, bought and left lighter for next guest. If in area again with large group would stay again.
Love the location and all the available space inside this chalet. Lots of extras! Everyone had an awesome trip even with rainy weather!!! Hot tub appears to have a slow leak but wasn’t an issue and was nice and warm.
The property was beautiful and clean. This was a getaway mainly to spend time with our kids and grandkids. We cooked most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. The pool and fire pit were very nice and we made good use of them. It was a nice place to get away and spend time with family.
The Chalet was the perfect space for bringing together three generations of family from three areas of Ohio for Easter weekend. From greenspace for wiffleball games and Easter egg hunts to the pool table, hot tub, and private pond with canoes, we made plenty of memories and hope to make it a yearly tradition. The clean, spacious, and well-stocked home comfortably accommodated us -- Thank you!
My 10 friends and I rented the Chalet for a quick weekend get together. The Chalet provided ample sleeping accommodations and plenty of bathrooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay! Our only complaints would be the overwhelming amount of Asian Lady Beetles (the orange “ladybugs” that we stepped on/saw and the lack of many basic HBAs such as body wash.
The facilities were great with just a couple things. The rooms/beds allowed everyone in the group to have their own bed which was great. Restrooms were plentiful especially for all women. The pool, hot tub, outside setting, pond allowed us to enjoy being outside. We unfortunately were not able to use the pool table because the cues were missing tips and we had an issue with the oven door that was not resolved before we left. We all though would come back.
Totally enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. House was clean. Bedrooms were comfortable. Kitchen was great for cooking. House was warm even on the nights with single digit temps. Will definitely rent again from First Choice. My only complaint is check in/out is at the store which adds a little time/effort instead of being able to just arrive at the rental.
We stayed here for our family vacation. There was 11 adults and 5 kids. We had a great time. The fishing pond, swimming pool, and hot tub was well used. We enjoyed the fire pit making smores and hanging out. The view was beautiful and the yard for kick ball was great!!! Only thing i feel would made our visit better wouod be the checking in and out. It wouod be nice if guest didnt have to stop to get the key for check in as well as dropping it back off. Overall we enjoyed our family time.
Wonderful time for 4 family units (12 people total and 3 dogs). The house was clean and comfortatble with plenty of space. We had a blast playing games, watching movies, sitting around the fire ring and of course playing in the pool. The house has plenty of space for dining together; as well as, splitting off for late game nights and tv watching without disturbing those wanting to go to bed early. Constructive criticism: the gates around the fenced in area needs repaired and closed off by the stairs to the deck to be completely secure for dogs, a larger fridge or second fridge, more than 4 dishwasher tabs (we did requst more, but they were not received), and a keyless entry...either way though, we still hope to return!
We had a wonderful time on our family trip to Hocking Hills! We spent tons of time in the pool! Being able to fish at the pond on the property was a bonus! The house had plenty of space for us! We also liked that there were 2 picnic tables for outdoor eating!
We did have a few issues with bats and woke up to bat poop on multiple decks. We also had our trash spread all over the front yard because there weren't lids on the outdoor trash cans.
We were impressed with how cool the house was in the midst of the summer. Multiple window units kept it very comfortable!
I was a bit worried by some recent negative reviews, but I shouldn't have worried! The hot tub and sauna both worked perfectly. (There's detailed information in the printed house guide if the hot tub is not working.)
This cabin is large and sprawling and exactly as advertised. There are trails to walk on and a pond / lake to fish or canoe in.
It's not a perfect place, but these are really minor quibbles:
- The ice maker doesn't work
- The fireplace isn't operational, at least this year
- Some of the beds are up a very narrow spiral staircase, and there's no bathroom up there
- The property is about a 20-25 minute drive to the major Hocking Hills attractions, so it does feel somewhat remote. It's about a 10 minute drive to the small town of Nelsonville. (Check out the historic downtown block, with unique stores such as New Leaf Marketplace and Mountain Mystic Gift Shop.)
But none of these detracted from our stay. And I think the price is right for a place that holds so many people. The property manager was very responsive, the hot tub is excellent, and the place was very very clean.
Our family enjoyed our time at this cabin. The kids loved the space available and when it rained they could each sneak off to a corner or the loft with an iPad or something. Kids enjoyed fishing, plenty of bluegill/sunfish and a few small bass. Kids stayed busy. The pots and pans in the kitchen are kind of garbage. We have found this to be pretty common and planned accordingly by bringing our own electric skillet, so not really an issue, but be prepared. Beds were okay, the plastic waterproof mattress cover is a little annoying but I understand why. One bed my child slept in had blood stains which I believe were concealed by a previous user and then made to look like the bed was undisturbed. My wife managed to clean them, but a little gross.Cabin is in need of a little TLC before small problems lead to bigger ones, rain gutters are not managing water properly, I don’t rate our stay any less of this, but it’s obvious they have been ignored, and with the amount of rain we had, this water is going back against the house and will lead to big problems later. Also, the overhang off the back room out the East door, has little vents in the soffit, a few are missing and a squirrel or something has taken residence in the roof. Recommend it to be evicted.Hot tub was used, but it is also in need of a little tlc. The cover is torn up pretty bad and has to be held down with rocks. There is always a gap between the two halves, so tree buds and stuff still make their way into it.

Robbins Stay at Chalet
The overall stay was decent. Was not too pleased with hot tub being moved to a no privacy area(photo online showed different location) and not being properly cleaned, refilled, and sanitized. we found clothes from prior guest on steps to hot tub, so we knew it was not touched prior to our stay. The Hiker Cafe menu is out of date and out of items listed for sale. Cable tv in Nelsonville leaves something to be desired. The pool table had a big gash in the felt , and needed replaced to play a proper game of pool. Was not same pool table in the online listing. Overall like we said, the stay was decent for the discounted price we paid. Would not stay here at full price unless amenities were up to date and impeccable. To us, that is what makes the stay, the game room and hot tub. We own businesses and when we come down to stay we basically stay in and do not leave much. This is the second straight stay at a bigger lodge type setting where the pool table and the hot tub were in poor condition , and our stay and its enjoyment were directly affected.Check out time of 10 am is too early as well.We have been coming to the Hocking Hills for over 20 years and have NEVER been asked to check out before 11, and we have always been accommodated if we were running behind. Maybe the time of year played a role in how the place was presented, but not sure. Duane and Angela Robbins

The Chalet
We had been planning this family weekend getaway since March of this year. We learned last month that my wife is going to require cancer surgery putting more excitement and expectations on this event.
The property is in a tranquil location and has lots to offer: pool, hottub, fishing pond etc. Spotty cell reception, which was a good thing as it got us all off of our devices! The complaints are few but significant. This reservation had been booked for several months and the property mgrs. were aware the size of our group (11). The first issue was that the ice maker was inop. We had to go buy ice for our stay, before we even got bedrooms picked. Secondly the bed sheets in 1 bedroom were soiled/stained, and there was a pair of used underwear left on a balcony. Given the cost of this unit, and the request of departure "cleanup" these things are unacceptable and a more thorough assessment of the facility should be done before guests arrive. There is NO excuse for this lack of preparation. *be advised that should you want a late check out, it's an additional $25.00/hr. WOW!!
Granted we could have contacted the prop.mgrs. but given the late hour of arrival it was easier for us to remedy these situations. It was just an unfortunate situation.
Had a great time relaxing in the pool, playing game inside and outside, fishing at the pond!! Plenty of space for everyone. We will definitely be back again.
