  • In this unique studio cabin you will be staying in an updated 1908 quarters of the Nederland black smith. Walking distance to town, you are at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park offering pristine hiking trails, lakes, white water rafting, kayaking, fishing, climbing, backcountry skiing, and more! Eldora Ski Resort is a 10 min drive away. The Hobbit shares a quaint outdoor courtyard, gas fire pit & grill with the Gypsy Getaway just adjacent. Have 4 guests? Rent both!

    The space
    The Hobbit House is Located less than 2 blocks from the heart of Nederland offering restaurants, bars, communal office space/internet, library, bank, beautiful Barker Reservoir and loads of mountain character. Nederland is a funky town just 18 miles from Boulder, 45 minutes from Denver. Sitting at 8600ft above sea level, it is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park offering pristine hiking trails, lakes, white water rafting, kayaking, fishing, climbing, backcountry skiing, and more. Eldora Ski Resort is a quick 10 min. drive or bus ride away! The Hobbit House is a private cabin on our home property and shares a common outdoor courtyard, outdoor gas fire pit, and grill with the Hobbit House rental just adjacent. Includes all utilities and wifi. No pets.

Nice and quiet! I liked having a full size kitchen with a tea kettle. The electric fireplace kept the chill out. Could use a rain gutter over the door, a reading lamp by the big chair and the steps to the bathroom shortened in height some how, maybe 3 steps instead of 2. This property is not for the disabled.

We loved our stay!

Great little house to stay in. Good location, owner told us everything we would need to know. The property is cozy but cute and the fold out couch/bed was surprisingly comfy! Would stay here again.

I came back to The Ned after living there back in the early 70’s. It was nice to stay in a neighborhood where it was nice and quiet. Highly recommend the Hobbit place!

Adorable cabin in a great town!

I loved how nice this house was, and that it had everything we needed and more just in case. It was a great location being so close to the downtown area with adorable local shops and restaurants. The only bummer was that the microwave did not work while we were there, but I trust that they will resolve that quickly. Thanks again for an awesome stay, we had a wonderful visit!

The moment we arrived, we felt cozy, comfortable, and completely at home. Every detail was thoughtful, and the space had everything we needed for a relaxing, memorable stay.We loved walking into town, meeting new friends, and soaking up the wonderful views, live music, and great food. Good Experience

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hobbit house. It was a cute little cabin that suited our needs for our long weekend. Great location, super close to town but still felt private. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5, is that the listing made it seem like there was a queen bed in addition to a pull out couch. The only bed is the pull out couch, which worked fine for us, but the listing definitely made it seem like there was an additional queen bed.

Location as advertised! Listing is a little confusing. At first I thought there was a bedroom with a bed, plus a pull out sofa. There is no bedroom! Great place in a great location though- walk to all of Nederland. Comfortable and clean.

Hobbit house review

The hobbit house is adorable and comfortable and a close walk to town. After a couple issues (house had not been cleaned when we arrived and hot water and fireplace did not work initially (electrical storm may have knocked it out), Amy was very responsive to all these issues and reacted quickly to remedy them both. The cleaning caused an hour and 15 minute delay in getting into the house and the hot water issue was fixed within a few hours of our noticing the issue. Although we got off to a rough start, we appreciate Amy's quick response in remedying the situation. Life happens and we need to roll with it. We would recommend this house if looking for a place in Nederland.

I'm struggling writing this review because this really is a nice place.Vrbo limits the characters one can use, so it is impossible to explain why I did not give this place 5-state, so unfortunately there isn't room to tell you about all of the good (and even great) things about this cabin (see others' reviews for that)Simply put, the reason I didn't give it 5-stars was that while listed as having a fireplace, and technically there is one, it is boarded up and a really cheesy fire hologram device mounted in the front of it.The plan was to "unplug" for a couple of days. A complete "Digital Detox". No computer, no television, no cell phone... nothing to distract me. I planned to sit and stare at a fire as I let my mind focus on the here and now, and let the world move along without me. There is just something about moving water and fire that can mesmerize a person, and given the time of year, I knew that I would not be hiking up a mountain to gaze at a flowing stream... so fire it is.So I packed the firewood in the car and drove to Nederland. Now imagine my dismay upon discovering the fact that not only was the fireplace boarded over, but a digital fake fire screen mounted in its place. "NO I cried! WHY CAN'T A PERSON ESCAPE THIS DIGITAL WORLD??!!"I wish that the owner did not claim that there was a fireplace, or at least made it clear in the description that it was a "fake" fireplace.And 'No' given the temps, sitting outside at the fire pit was not a viable option

9 Night Stay

On positive note this property is cute & comfy. It was very clean inside and close to town and to our family that we were visiting. Good value. On the downside getting up to property once you park your car the path to Hobbit House was narrow (about 18" footpath) poorly lit and medium sized bolders in it. The solar lights were covered over by 2' tall brush. The outside grounds were not mowed and unkept. My husband is 78 and it was difficult for him to walk up and down to Hobbit House. The pictures in VRBO do not show it from street level. Also, if you like your coffee and a lot of it. They only have a Kuerig available. Bring your own pot or make one cup at a time. A shout out to Amy (Host). We had a problem with the Keurig leaking water in tray and there were only 3 pods in rental when we arrived. She came right away with a bag of pods. Took machine and said it was fixed. I hated to bother her again but it was still leaking. On a whole it was fine. Wanted to make anyone else looking to rent Hobbit House made aware of accessibility if you have issues walking.

Great host and a wonderful cozy little cabin. The cabin is very tastefully done with high-end finishes, excellent appliances and everything you could want. The location is was perfect for me. Just a short walk into town.
