If you’re looking for a peaceful place to unwind, this is the place. The sound of the river and views of nature were blissful. Great location for just staying put, yet easy access to day trips as well.
I want to thank you for allowing us to stay. This was my birthday weekend and a girls weekend at the hot springs was just what we all needed. It was amazing.
This beautiful cabin was so homey and comfortable, I really didn’t want to leave. The location was amazing. Everywhere you looked You were surrounded by mother nature’s beauty.
There’s a very special and mystical vibe to Chalk Creek Cliffs.
This property is pretty great. It was clean and the sounds of the creek provided great sleeping and naps. Access to many trails, small cities and the hot springs makes this a great base camp. It was hot but the cabin stayed pretty cool with fans and windows open. Mosquito coils were helpful on the patio.
Loved our stay at this little cabin. It was just what we needed. We came for our 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and the property manager planned a little surprise for me when we got there which I thought was so nice. The cabin is really clean, cozy, and comfy. The sound of the river while you sleep is so peaceful. Loved sitting on the back patio enjoying nature, listening to the river, and seeing all the deer walk through. I would definitely recommend this place. We got to meet the property managers and they are amazing. So nice. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. I didn't want to leave.
This property is just amazing, we had to find it quickly after our other rental got canceled by the owner and we were so thankful they did, the area was new to us and a blast to explore. My wife loves the extra bedroom overlooking the creek, she sat in there for hours listening to the water and relaxing. Cabin is easy to access and just far enough from town that it is not crowded. Thank you for saving our vacation and helping us create wonderful memories
Great location, beautiful view of the stream. Perfectly wonderful cabin. Host communicated well. Everything is a little dated in the cabin, but it is a cabin - so overall pretty happy with everything. The one area that could be improved is the cookware. There are contractions between the email instructions and printed instructions on site. Someone should probably update the printed instructions on site.
This is the second time we’ve stayed at this property and we love it. Very cozy place. The location on the bend of Chalk Creek is great with a nice patio out back. You have straight on view of 200 yards of the creek. We really enjoyed our stay.
The cabin on the creek was fantastic! We loved being able to crack the windows at night to hear the creek and get the fresh air. Another plus was the lack of cell service which really allowed us all to unplug from our jobs.
Overall a cute cabin and we enjoyed our stay. A few things I wish we would have known before booking - the upper loft was completely off limits, the cabin is right off a main road with some traffic, and the area by the river isn’t really walkable due to no trespassing signs all around. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. However the non-stick pans were so used and scratched up that the Teflon pieces came off the pans and into the food we cooked. Checkout was at 10am and the host arrived about 10 minutes early, leaving us feeling pretty rushed as we were loading up the car.
A perfect mountain cabin with all the necessities with a pretty river to enjoy hearing and fishing from . Far away from city life but close enough to get what is needed. I will recommend to everybody
This cabin is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Mt Princeton / Hwy 285 valley corridor. We were able to go river rafting, see Salina for FIBARK, Buena Vista, and the Mt Princeton Hot Springs all from this place. The creek behind the property is amazing, you can sit outside for hours and just enjoy nature at your back door. The property is a perfect blend of old-fashioned log cabin with all the modern conveniences. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
We had a great stay. Hearing the white water running in the creek outside was so relaxing. All amenities you might want were there. We did not use the loft but it’s a good place for teens or young adults as the ladder was not for very young or older folks. Enjoyed a day of white water rafting just 30 mins away and the day pass at hot springs just 5 mins away. Best dinner ever there as well! Great memories
Our recent stay at the cabin by chalk creek was great!
The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing staycation. The living room is tastefully decorated to have an inviting and cozy feel, the kitchen was fully equipped, super clean. I couldn't find a corkscrew, so I improvised and used a screw and the hammer in the tool drawer to make it happen.
Also, leave the window open and listen to the creek at night; it's the most peaceful sound ever.
We highly recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway; go up the road on 162 for some excellent hiking spots, visit the ghost town at the end of the road, or hit Buena Vista and Salida for ice cream and some good food.
Thank you for hosting us.

Overpriced for what we got
The cabin is in a lovely spot, right on a stream. However, there is no easy access to the stream from the cabin. In addition, although there is a patio overlooking the stream, to get to that patio you have to walk out the front door and then walk around through the grass. There is no direct way from the house. We did get permission to open up the fenced-in pet area so we could walk out the side door and to the patio. For the price the cabin seems shabby -- several blinds are broken, the ceiling fan doesn't work and the carpet is dirty. The kitchen is not well stocked so cooking is difficult. But the worse thing is that there is no dishwasher. You are at the mercy of the questionable dish-washing habits of the previous renters. I found several dirty and oily forks and knives put away in the drawer. If I were a germ-a-phobe I would have FREAKED out! All of this would be expected if we had rented a low-end cabin, but for the price we would expect more. All in all, I would say there are many cabins for rent in Colorado. I wouldn't pick this one again.
Family of 5 had a nice time at this cabin. Very close to a nice fishing spot (Chalk Lake) and several hiking areas. Cabin itself is cozy and has all the amenities you need. Loft area is a little awkward to get to. All in all we had a great time!
