The food was amazing - they obviously choose to employ competent chefs. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The on-station gorge was well worth the visit, especially Mussell Pool and the nearby falls - you get to see the landforms of the Pilbara up close
Booked into a Queen Room which included Dinner with a 2 course set menu plus a make you own breakfast. Thought the price was quite high but as we had been camping, looked forward to a night of luxury. The night was cold 9°C, there was no heater in the fairly small room, just an inverter with settings, cold, blow, dehumidify .. there was no humidity. Might be ok for Summer but not Winter! The mattress was very good but the only pillows were way too fat & not soft. Not sure how people sleep with those, I guess on your back all propped up. The bed cover was hard & stiff with no duvet, as least there was a synthetic blanket to give us some warmth. Woke up quite cold & a stiff neck & had to shower etc in the cold bathroom. For the price we paid the amenities in the room were rudimentary with cheap coffee sachets, no plunger or Nespresso machine. The bathroom tiles & the area around the toilet could do with a good scrub. It was quiet.
The fixed menu dinner that night was pork belly which I like, but this was hard & dry & didn’t eat a lot of it. Included was a glass of very average wine with a very limited selection. Dessert was nice. At breakfast. just a range of basic continental things which you sorted out for yourself. If you wanted an expresso or cappuccino you had to pay extra & not cheap.
If you were caravanning or in a campervan, would be nice to get a powered camp site, but the rooms accomodation leaves me cold. I wouldn’t stay in them again.
