I do all the housekeeping and maintenance, so I very much appreciate that guests leave the cottage tidy at checkout.
One mile north of our cottage along the Avenue of the Giants is the town of Miranda, where you will find all you need to stock up for your stay. There are gas pumps at the local market, a post office, the Avenue Cafe (serves lunch & dinner), The Redwood Palace (local oysters, beer and wine), Sips Coffee kiosk, and a Sweets shop.
Humboldt County is a rural, forested area and you might find that you have limited cellular/data services. GPS/Navigation May not be accurate. Please print out and follow my directions on Airbnb.
The cottage is located directly on the historic Avenue of the Giants so there is potential for some motorist noise from other travelers visiting the area.
The best time to enjoy river activity is (approximately) late April until August. In years of drought, the water level will be very low.
Please note that we have three Airbnb listings on this 5 acre property and if the Hilltop house is booked, you may run into the other guests in the shared meadow. Please leave the house in the condition you found it in; clean the kitchen, tidy up and do the dishes. We will take care of the laundry. Be respectful of the neighbors; quiet hours begin at 10pm, including the fire pit/picnic area. If you are traveling with a pet, please do not allow it on the furniture or beds and do not leave it unattended in the house. Thank you

We had a fantastic stay here. The house had 2 wonderful outdoor areas and the night skies by the fire pit area were amazing. The house was very well equipped and with comfortable touches. Great spot to see the Redwoods. Towns and restaurants close by. Great stay. Would definitely stay there again.
A beautiful, clean home. Very cozy. We loved it. My adult kids want us to go back every year. Check in and check out process very smooth and easy. Host is wonderful and very communicative. We lost power during a stormy night & they turned on the generator without us asking and let us know before coming. Even though the generator was outside. Overall we had an amazing trip.
The place is nicer than the photos. Plenty of space, very comfortable, great TV, nice porch. We really enjoyed our stay. Only problem is it was a little hard to find- the GPS directed us to the middle of nowhere.
We had a great stay! The place was clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed. It was a short drive to the breathtaking redwoods and conveniently located near downtown Miranda, where we found a small country store with essentials. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!
We loved our stay at this property. The trees were magical, the property was private and cozy, and Marisa was a great host. It was a perfect getaway for my family and I on my birthday.
Great place to stay, we were very fortunate that it was available. Thanks for being available to us in your accommodations. We will definitely recommend this place to others!
A nice, cozy place to stay that was nearby the various Redwood groves. A grocery store was just a short drive away and access to the Eel River was close by. Owner was very communicative about instructions and was available if we had any concerns or questions. A great place to stay.
My brother & wife have been coming to visit me in Brookings OR for several years and we enjoy hiking in Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park and seeing the groves there but this year we decided to travel further south to see The Avenue of the Giants. We spent 2 nights so we could see most of the groves and they were awesome. The house is located right in the middle of it all- excellent,
A clean, comfortable and well stocked house. Marisa responded promptly to my emails and provided clear expectations for her guests. Great value for the price.
We loved it here. We walked in and it felt like home. To be honest we didn’t want to leave. Oh, and the beds were super comfortable. It was in a perfect location. Marisa was very responsive. We would highly recommend.
It was a sweet spot to meet my mom for an overnight birthday gathering. It was tucked away with lots of greenery. It had all the amenities and comfortable bedrooms to retreat to at the end of our evening. Marissa had great communication. Overall it was a wonderful stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Carraway Cottage! It had everything you need to stay comfortable and relaxed. We were pleasantly surprised that the water filtration system allows you to drink straight from the tap so we could refill our water bottles too. The bed was very comfortable, it was clean and well-kept. The location is central to the beautiful attractions of the redwoods. We took several hikes and had a fancy dinner at the Bennie Inn. Highly recommend!
This cute spot is very conveniently located. It is right off the Avenue of the Giants. It is close to a cute coffee shop in Miranda as well as a good burger place called the Chimney Tree Grill. Our stay was short so we didn't have time to use all the amenities, but the property was beautiful and spacious. You couldn't see the neighboring cabins due to landscaping choices which was nice, even though bamboo was a strange choice considering the location. Enjoyed the faux fireplace, the board games, and the spaciousness of the cabin.
We loved our stay here and would absolutely stay again. Such an ideal location for visiting the redwoods- right next to Avenue of the Giants. Secure and gated. The cottage was more spacious in person than anticipated. Beds were very comfortable. We wish we could have stayed long enough to take advantage of the great outdoor spaces. Nicely and thoughfully decorated and appointed. Almost like a tourist office, in terms of provided brochures, maps, etc.Having the washer/dryer was appreciated, and the kitchen had everything we nedded.Communication was incredibly responsive and helpful, too.. My husband and I live in Fortuna, about 35 miles north of this cottage. We wanted a getaway close by because we only have one day off together a week but we wanted a nice, romantic place to celebrate our four year wedding anniversary. The Cottage was affordable and very pretty in the pictures and I would have been so happy with the basics but the host went above and beyond filling the place with amenities and details to make the stay amazing. There was really good quality coffee, tea and everything you need, a fully stocked kitchen so no need to bring anything pots or pans or anything like that.there was even picnic dishes to take to the picnic area and a blender, veggie slicer and all that. There was even food in the cabinets and freezer. We brought our own but I just thought it was so nice of the host to include. Also wifi, Netflix, an electric fireplace in the tv stand, there are two balconies with pretty lights. My husband and I had a lovely dinner under the stars and redwoods at the patio table on the deck! I'm already planning on booking again when my parents come to visit, I know my mom will be obsessed with the decor like I am. This was my first time using VRBO and I was super impressed! I highly recommend this place! Also the host was helpful and gave stellar directions, GPS isn't very reliable as the cell service is spotty on the drive BUT I had full service at the property!
