"Blue Dove is doing an increasingly good job and western travelers should consider this as an option when traveling in Arua. The onsite security at night is much appreciated. Food is basic but good. Good value and location. Management is helpful and addresses any issues. I stay there every time I visit Arua. "

"I thoroughly enjoyed my three week long stay at Beri Cottages during Feb-March 2026! What an oasis of beauty and tranquility welcomed me there—filled with flowering gardens, a crystal-clear outdoor swimming pool, a wood-fired steam bath and a fully equipped health club offering (free and really fun!) aerobics classes three times a week. I took full advantage of these amazing opportunities. My double-deluxe room was large and well-appointed, with air-conditioning, a fridge and a roll-around...

"Staff helpful early breakfast on last day. Room spacious. Good good bed. Shower nice except one day when little water. Secure place. Parking. Weaver birds nesting above the little cottage where my room was. They did not seem to be expecting us but sorted out so all well. Breakfast good and i ate al a carte in the evening and food ok. Arua is distant so good to be able to find a reasonable hotel to stay which met our needs. It is quite expensive for the best rooms"

10/10 Excellent
"I thoroughly enjoyed my three week long stay at Beri Cottages during Feb-March 2026! What an oasis of beauty and tranquility welcomed me there—filled with flowering gardens, a crystal-clear outdoor swimming pool, a wood-fired steam bath and a fully equipped health club offering (free and really fun!) aerobics classes three times a week. I took full advantage of these amazing opportunities. My double-deluxe room was large and well-appointed, with air-conditioning, a fridge and a roll-around mosquito net. Beri Cottages also taps the creative talents of two excellent chefs, who prepare varied and delicious breakfast buffets each morning (at no extra cost) as well as made-to-order lunch and dinners, which easily accommodated my gluten-free diet. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience the fragrant fish curry, which became my favorite meal from their extensive menu. However, it was Beri Cottage’s kind and attentive staff I appreciated most! Special thanks to Patrick, Benda, Irene, Bosco, Robert and your entire talented team! After enjoying three weeks at Beri Cottages, I actually left feeling far more refreshed, physically stronger and healthier than when I arrived! In sum, Beri Cottages in Arua, Uganda is a terrific find. I can recommend it to you without hesitation and in the highest terms."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Mvara?
The best time to visit Mvara, Uganda, is during the dry season, which runs from June to August and December to February. This period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the region.

These months typically have less rainfall and lower humidity, making outdoor activities and wildlife viewing more enjoyable. The roads are also generally in better condition, which is a significant advantage when travelling through the Northern Region.

For those planning safari adventures or extensive outdoor excursions, the dry season is particularly good as animals congregate around water sources, making them easier to spot.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline − this is often within 24 to 48 hours of your scheduled arrival. If you have a non-refundable booking, it might still be possible to receive a refund if you cancel it within 24 hours of booking. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use our 'Fully refundable property' filter during your search to find the right Mvara hotel for you.
