"Wonderful location, you jump into the pool then jump into the ocean. Great bar/restaurant near the pool and a very large breakfast offered. Service was very good, and we will definitely come back. One thing to note. Laundry facilities is not offered even though listed. They have a laundry service for a high fee."

The UVA restaurant is well worth a visit and offers a good price/quality ratio. The staff are efficient, cheerful and friendly. "Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings. Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere.
