"Stayed during extreme weather – very unsafe experience
We stayed here during a period of severe storms, strong winds, and heavy rain. While we understand that weather is beyond anyone’s control, the accommodation should not have accepted guests under these conditions.
The property is located deep in the mountains and requires driving a long, narrow dirt road. We had to rent a car and drive through extremely dangerous conditions to reach the finca, which felt unsafe and frightening.
During our stay, there were more than 10 power outages, including multiple outages overnight. The heater stopped working during the night, the entire property later lost electricity, and we were left without heating, stable lighting, or basic facilities.
Wi-Fi was extremely unstable and disconnected countless times, and mobile signal was almost unusable.
None of these risks or the possibility of frequent power outages during severe weather were clearly communicated in advance. Given the circumstances, we believe guests should not have been accepted for safety reasons.
Overall, this was a very stressful and uncomfortable experience, especially considering the dangerous access and lack of basic utilities. We are extremely disappointed and do not feel this stay met reasonable safety or comfort standards."
El Patio de Lola, an Andalusian village house with green marble splash pool.
10/10 Excellent
"The cottage is beautiful. It was a particularly cold Christmas in Spain and when I mentioned that we were cold, help on how to get the house warm, was instant. Lovely hosts, we felt safe and supported. Very quick reply on questions. Would like go back in the summer and have a dip in the “fish pond”, which is what we called the pool. (It’s not that small) Thank you, we had a great stay! See you again"
Sunny apartment in Andalucia with spectacular roof terrace.
10/10 Excellent
"The apartment is lovely in a quaint little town close to many area attractions in Malaga. The host left clear instructions for use of all the amenities within the apartment as well as a nice range of ideas for exploring the local area. This place was a highlight of our trip to Spain!"
Beautiful Restored Farmhouse with Private Pool in Malaga, Andalucia
10/10 Excellent
"We had a fantastic stay! A secluded spot which felt really private. The house and pool are beautiful. Everything was super clean and the hosts are friendly and extremely helpful! We enjoyed the BBQ and we even got to try some fresh eggs from the chickens! Thank you "
Farmhouse In Privileged Location, with private pool and established gardens.
8/10 Good
"The view from this property is truly spectacular, sitting watching the landscape wake up or go to sleep is something I will always treasure. The house is very clean and has most things that you need, though a chest of drawers in the main bedroom and a wardrobe in the guest bedroom would have really helped when unpacking. The outdoor space is very pretty with grape vines and beautiful flowers but they do attract a lot of wasps, hornets and midges so make sure you pack some deet. The outdoor furniture is a little tired and could do with upgrading and there were only 4 sunbeds for 6 of us which was disappointing but Simon brought along a couple of collapsible ones. The owners were incredibly helpful and sorted any problems quickly and recommended lots of places to eat or visit which was really useful. The local village was really traditional with pretty houses and steep, picturesque streets, but we found that unless you spoke reasonable Spanish it was difficult to communicate as nobody spoke any English. The few restaurants that were there are a mixed bag, sometimes open, sometimes not and if I’m honest we never felt particularly welcome. I’m not sure if it was because we were British or just a tourist, but everyone was very curt and unsmiling and the service wasn’t great. We’ve visited Spain many times and the people have always been warm and welcoming so not sure why Riogordo wasn’t. All in all we had a very restful stay at this beautiful farmhouse."
Piltraque - our holiday country villa to rent in the Spanish Coutryside
10/10 Excellent
"This villa is beautiful. Would recommend to anyone that wants an out of the way villa in the countryside. Pros:- quiet and secluded- excellent rooms/beds/living areas- pool is amazing- scenery breathtaking- shops local enough to drive and shop for everyday- responsive to questions and queries whilst we were there- overall a superb experience from start to finishCons:- air-con only in the main living area, but a dip in the pool will sort that out- access to the villa is up a long winding dirt track, feels sketchy at first but we did get used to it.Barring these two cons they weren't really an issue once we were settled in as we spent most of our time by the pool or on the balcony. Great place for a relaxing getaway with family. Very child friendly also. Lots of toys and floats for the pool, we also left all of our pool floats and left a load of darts for the next visitors."
Old mill on the river, within walking distance of the village
10/10 Excellent
"The OldMill was perfect for our stay. It’s a beautiful place with fantastic facilities- everything you could need is there. We were a large group and there was plenty of space and areas to spend time together. The pool area was amazing with sun loungers, outdoor dining and lounge area, and, an outdoor kitchen with a large fridge!Peggy was a great host- really helpful with any questions.I really don’t have words to describe what a wonderful place the Old Mill is and we’re so grateful to have been able to stay there."
Pretty Reformed Stables With Spectacular Country Views, Private Pool And Gardens
2/10 Terrible
"Property not prepared for arrival and not accurately listed. 50 min drive from Malaga and 12 min drive from Colmenar. Access to the property down a precarious 1km steep narrow dirt road. We experienced two long periods without any water, 14hrs and 8hrs despite it working in houses near by! House unclean in general. Pool dirty and surrounding area. Pool light broken and all outside lights not working. Ensuite out of order. Gas bbq filthy an unfit to be used. Kitchen pans etc. unfit for use. A large rat was visualised in and around the property despite our best efforts to keep everything clean. Owner full of excuses from start to finish. We had to vacate early….! "
