Thomas House - Six Bedroom, Three Bath Oceanfront Home

Thomas House is a six-bedroom, three-bath oceanfront home located three miles south of Garden City Pier. This home features a fully-equipped kitchen complete kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, a living/dining room combination floor plan, oceanfront sun room, washer, dryer, and central heat and air conditioning. Two color TVs (cable), two DVD players, and Wi-Fi are also included. Sleeping accommodations include one king, two queen, and seven twin-sized beds. Outdoor features include two furnished oceanfront decks, picnic table, shower, gas grill, and wooden walkway to the beach. No pets. No smoking. Maximum occupancy: 13

Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other points of interest include Marlin Quay Marina and restaurants Sara J's Seafood Restaurant, Gulfstream Café, and Original Sam's Corner.

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community considered the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" and home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile-long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of the MarshWalk. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems, and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach.

Looking for entertainment and attractions? Take in a show at Pirates Voyage, Medieval Times, Alabama Theater, The Carolina Opry, or Legends in Concert. Then visit SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, WonderWorks, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and the second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway, with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

Take a day trip to Charleston to experience shopping, a harbor cruise, a city carriage tour, or a plantation tour. Charleston is only 87 miles from Garden City Beach - approximately two hours. It's a picturesque and exquisitely preserved southern city with antebellum architecture, cobblestone streets, and historical landmarks.

Some TLC is all it needs!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The air wasn't working when we arrived so it was hot. Could not connect with the wifi code given. Maintenance came right away but first guy was unable to fix either. Waited for the second one who did get tv to work but had to call heat and air company to come out. They had to get a key to a locked room so they could repair unit. Then we realized we couldn't get off the walkway to go on beach because it was too high and needed another step of some kind. A safe one! Garden City Realty was back to the house in a few minutes to help us out. He ended up building a step for us! Thank you GCR for helping us get started at the beach! These are suggestions for this house, paint the vents so they don't look so old and dirty, paint around the base boards so they don't look dirty, change the table and chairs in the kitchen area,hard to sit down with arms on all chairs,some kind of shade or drapes at the back deck door,new blinds in front bedroom are split and broken,shower and water handle came completely off when I turned it on in the back room on right. I'm sure I ve left something out. Seemed to be something every day. Wouldn't take much to fix these items. The decor was cite for the beach. We did like the sunroom and windows we could open. For the price we payed this year we were disappointed.

Clean Neat Little House

It's been our only complaint every year. We love the home, the location and the upgrades. But, the house was filthy! We clean it every year as soon as we get here. I wish one year for it to be clean. :-(We have already reserved it for next year.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Basically, our bare feet were black on the bottoms after walking through the house. None of the floor mats had been washed. The ice maker did not work. There was not enough silverware and bowls to accomidate 15 people. All the cooking pans were unusable. They were scrapped so badly, that the bottoms were flaking off. I called maintenance and they sent over a new set of pans within the hour. There were 3 AC units in the house, but only two worked. We called maintenance and they contacted the owners personal AC guy. He was onsite within an hour and said the unit was frozen, even though we had not been running it more than an hour. The AC guy said he would be back in the monring. When he returned, the unit still did not work. I called Gail Hejna and she moved my family to a different house. My family had issues, but Garden City Realty worked with us to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I would rent from Garden City Realty again.

Fun in the sun at the Thomas House

The Thomas House was in a perfect location for our family, nice deck to the ocean, beds were comfortable. It could’ve been cleaner, the floors looked like they hadn’t been washed in awhile, nor the bathtubs. The shower curtains also need to be changed as they were also not at all clean! The owner seriously need to look in to changing the bathtubs as the bottoms are rounded & slick, and cause falls. Yes, one of us fell in the slick tub and had bruises for days, glad nothing was broken!!The kitchen table & chairs were meant for outdoors as they are flimsy. Chairs with arms are not meant to be in such a tight space. We enjoy meals together as a family! Overall, we enjoyed our stay, plenty of bedrooms & space and beautiful weather all week. The deck & steps to the ocean can’t be beat!!!

This was the cleanest the house ever was. We love the privacy being so far down on Waccamaw. The only trouble we had was the new check in. We waited all day even after 4:30 with now call. However when we went to check in anyway, our keys were ready. The line was still wrapped around the parking lot.

Reviewer Comments: house location oceanfront, great; house layout good; upgrade of kitchen appliances, especially refrig size to better accomodate number of guest(too small for our needs); carpets old, maybe contributing to closed, not lived-in odor; 2 baths with rounded shower/tubs could present safety issues for older guests; tvs not working on arrival, but problem quickly resolved by maintenance staff; cleaning staff could have paid more attention to preparing for guests; would hesitate recommending this house mainly due to need for upgrades and safety issues stated earlier. No problems with management staff. House location is GREAT. My family meets almost every year( from GA, VA, TX, TN)and 98-99% of properties we will and have recommended.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our vacation in MB was wonderful but the house we rented could definitely use some TLC. Very basic cleaning was done but there were many areas we cleaned ourselves to be comfortable staying/sleeping there. The most heard comment from our group, even the kids, was "this could be so nice if they would put some of the rental money back into the house". We also learned we couldn't run to many appliances together with central air, we actually had to have the power company out 1 of the 1st few days we were there. Overall nothing was awful but the property could use some help.

Reviewer Comments: The house is roomy with 2 very nice rooms. 1) An enclosed long air conditioned porch with continuous windows. 2) An upstairs bedroom with a balcony and full window door looking out on the ocean. The other 2 bedrooms are nice and allow for a parent room and a separate kids room. The downstairs rooms are good with dehumidifier and air conditioner. There are plenty of spaces to put bicycles inside. Nice outside decks and walkways. Beach is not crowded. good overall experience. will rent next year. One thing that needs some attention is finding a space for a long table so that all people can eat at the same table. Perhaps a long thin table in the porch would serve this function.
