About this property
Amazing Government Camp Cabin Short Walk to SkiBowl or Downtown
Location, Location, Location!!! This unique A-Frame was originally built in the 60's by an architect who lived and breathed mountain life. The house was completely remodeled in 2015, and is like nothing else - truly unique.
For heating on cold snowy nights, a new propane furnace, wood stove, bed heaters on all beds, cozy down comforters, and feather beds insure your feet will stay toasty warm. The bathrooms have been remodeled to include a claw foot soaking tub and two custom tiled showers, along with an instant hot water heater to provide continuous hot water for all guests. There is also a sauna for soothing aching muscles from a hard day on the slopes.
The kitchen is extraordinarily functional with gourmet touches, including a Viking range, Dishwasher, concrete countertops, and everything you could possibly need to blend, puree, chop, boil, or sauté until your heart content. In addition, we have many spices available for your use.
Sleeping arrangements consist of two bedrooms and a loft. The loft has a queen bed and twin futon. The first floor bedrooms have a queen in one room, and two twin beds in the second. There is an additional twin futon available with bedding.
The upstairs is perfect for family and friends, with a great room concept integrating kitchen, eating, and living spaces. The living room has a huge and cozy Restoration Hardware down couch, along with other designer comforts and a flat screen TV for watching your favorite DVD or streaming Netflix.
We made all efforts to incorporate reclaimed/recycled finishes throughout, which is demonstrated through touches such as 9-inch yellow pine flooring planks salvaged from gymnasium bleachers and the chairlift chair hanging from the ceiling peak in the main room.
Best of all, the location of this little gem cannot be beat. Upper Skibowl is one block away. In fact, it takes longer to walk across the Skibowl parking lot than it does to walk from the house to the Skibowl gate entrance. Or rather than heading to the slopes, take a left and walk across Multopor Crossing and you are in Government Camp proper, with several restaurant options like Charley's, the Huckleberry Inn, Ratskeller, or shopping for forgotten essentials and memorable souvenirs. Unless you are driving to Timberline or Meadows, YOU DON'T NEED YOUR CAR. With that said, the driveway can accommodate off street parking for up to 3-cars (Snowpass still required elsewhere in town).
Timeberline Lodge or Mount Hood Meadows are a short 15 to 20-minute drive up the mountain.

It was a really cozy cabin and we had a great stay. Beds were comfy and the location was great. We've rented a lot of places, and this had the best stocked kitchen we've ever experienced.
We loved our stay at this super convenient and well appointed cabin with loads of character, history, and interesting touches. The village of government camp is a short walk away with many restaurant choices. Ski Bowl is also a short walk away but was already closed for the season and we really wanted to ski timberline, which we did. Timberline lodge is maybe a 15 min drive and we drove up there twice for some wonderful sunny spring skiing above the clouds. Highly recommended and we can't wait to come back again!
Wow, what a fun place and great location. My husband loved the stereo system and location to ski slope, I liked the unique interior and well stocked kitchen. Lots of stairs inside, and the ones up to loft might be hard if you’re tall! Good Wi-Fi, easy to use all amenities (sauna, tv, washer,)
First time staying in Gov't camp. Cabin was in a great location, close to restaurants and a quick drive to skiing and snowmobiling. Communication with owner was easy and fast. Check in and check out process clear and easy. Family would stay there again next time we go up, daughter want to go up in the summer to fish
A very charming cabin with a neat family history. The house been decorated and renovated tastefully. It was perfect for a short getaway from Portland. My favorite things about the house... The upstairs bedroom and its view of the big cathedral window and the red lift chair. A rustic and small but a well equipped kitchen. I was able to cook every meal comfotably (we didnt eat out) and that is usually not possible in a rental. The layout of the main floor was perfect for my husband and our teenage son to relax and enjoy each other's company. My son loved the twin bed tucked under the stairs in one of the downstairs bedrooms. The sauna was nice, too. We fired up the wood stove every morning. The cabin stayed warm really well. I would love to go back. The housekeepers went over the check in time by 15 minutes but the house looked good. The house is short walk from Govy's main street.
We had a great stay at this cozy cabin in Government Camp! The location was super convenient and close to everything, making it the perfect home base for our trip. The cabin was comfortable and inviting, and the hosts were quick to respond and very helpful. We’d definitely stay here again!
Can't beat the location, especially if you're skiing the East side of Ski Bowl. Fun quirky home full of winter themed items. Host was very communative and responsive when there was a little issue during check in. For sauna aficionados out there it was disappointing to have strick no warer in the sauna policy... missed the steamy heat after night skiing.
My wife, son, and I enjoyed our stay in Government Camp tremendously. The house was the perfect size for the three of us. We really liked the charm of the place and the easy access to the heart of Government Camp and the local ski areas. We will definitely be back to the area. Thanks for helping our stay memorable.
Great house conveniently located a short walk over the bridge to town. Cute house decorated nicely with a good kitchen and comfortable bed. Having a decent stereo instead of having to use a Bluetooth speaker is great too. Good water pressure in shower.
My 14 yr old son and I stayed for 5 days so he could attend a ski camp … it was our 3rd summer at Mt. Hood and we enjoyed this lovingly restored gem of an A-frame cabin. It is fully loaded with everything you could need plus a healthy dose of charm.
This was the best rental we’ve been jas. The house is meticulously restored and has every detail
And amenity you would need . It was super comfortable for us and our two teens . The kitchen was amazing, bathrooms beautiful, beds comfortable. We hope to return one day!
Very lovely and comfortable cabin walking distance from Ski Bowl and ALL THE THINGD in Govy. You will be happy to cook in the small, but very well-appointed and organized kitchen that even has a dishwasher.
We stayed there in winter and loved how easy it was to get up and go ski at Ski Bowl. Bonus points for the kids being able to walk into town to meetup with pals and grab a bite to eat.
Would love to come next in the summer!
I recently stayed in this beautiful mountain A-frame with my family and we all had a great time. The views from the house were absolutely stunning. The house itself was also perfect for our family - it was spacious enough for all of us and had plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The interior was tastefully decorated and had all the amenities we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy fireplace. The Internet was excellent and the showers were amazing. Overall, I would highly recommend this A-frame to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable family getaway in the mountains
Cozy, well-built cabin with lots of modern touches. Very convenient to the main street and Skibowl. The best stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental, including spices, dry goods, and lots of cookware and utensils! Relatively quiet in winter, with only the occasional truck or snowplow breaking the silence. We had 5 adults and one toddler and found the cabin very comfortable. Nice to have a sauna, although disappointing that the owners request no water in it. One complaint: the lighting on the second floor and loft is not sufficient--lots of small lamps (with numerous independent switches to locate when you want to turn them on and off) and hanging Edison bulbs, which are lovely for cozy evenings, but less than functional. There is a flashlight in a kitchen drawer, which we had to use in order to find things in the drawers. And in the loft, I had to use my headlamp to find clothes in my suitcase because there is no overhead light and it's quite dark (at least in January). Better overhead lighting would fix this. But overall, we loved our stay in this A-frame!
We stayed at Phil and Mitzi’s cabin while pour teenagers were attending ski camp. It was perfect in every way for us. Easy walk into Govy and the Mt. Hood Adventure Park. Comfortable living space and bedrooms. Gorgeous view of Mt. Hood from the balcony. Well stocked kitchen. Great WiFi. And so clean! We will definitely return to this charming cozy cabin.
