"The cabin was clean and comfortable. We only stayed one night but got a great night sleep and woke up at the base of Mt. Rainer, literally couldn't get any closer."
"Cabin and outdoors were very clean. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. The only y negative was using the worn out cooking utensils. Buy some new pots and pans and measuring cups."
"Pros:
The staff at this property are amazing. They were so kind to help me out with a medical emergency which delayed my trip and very responsive. When we checked in they were friendly and responsive and literally made our trip magical with their great advice and suggestions of hikes to do in the area and how best to plan our time and logistics. They are sweet and friendly people, very kind and caring. The property location is fantastic with easy parking. There was an unexpected perk of a DVD player in the room and DVD library which was really fun and nostalgic! The bed, linens and towels were basic but clean and comfortable.
Cons:
The property itself is older and fairly rundown. Things like light fixtures in the bathroom and bedroom didn't work, the toilet seat was coming off and generally the room had a musty smell. Also if you are sensitive to noise the room had no sound proofing so we were kept up by residents stomping around above us at night.
Overall, the location and staff were so nice, I would stay here again and recommend it. The beauty of the location itself overcomes any negatives.
Also, as a tip we ate at the nearby Snorting Elk Cellar Bar. It was cozy, pretty good food (bar food but some good options like a coconut curry), and really friendly staff that were caring and kind."
Tiny Home A, just steps from Mt. Rainer Nat. Park w/firepit.
2/10 Terrible
"The listing for this was incredibly misleading. Careful pictures to not show the connected cabins, and not specifically stating that the entire outside area is a shared space, was very disappointing to realize when we arrived. We had booked this place specifically to have a romantic weekend getaway in the woods, and it was the perfect weather to be outside, but a family of 4 had booked the other cabin and of course they would want to spread out and enjoy the outside. The quarters are so close, we ended up not being able to even leave our cabin without an awkward interaction. These cabins themselves are small too, so staying inside felt cramped and we had to have all the curtains closed to have any privacy from our unexpected roommates seated 10 feet from our huge glass door. Also the bathroom has mold in it and water damage from the extremely leaky shower and who knows if the hot tub was any good because we didn't get the opportunity to try it, but I think the kids had fun, good for them. Also, there is absolutely no cell phone service so make sure to download and save your map and access key code before you lose service, and if you arrive in busy season, make sure to plan for waiting in line in your car for about 2 hours to get into the road that leads to this cabin. Horrendous experience at this listing, I don't recommend this rental unless you need to book both cabins anyways."
"Very quaint chalet in the heart of the national park. It was super quiet and peaceful and awesome to be able to sit on the porch and look at Mount Rainier. The food in the restaurant was also very good and the prices were quite fair. The only thing to know is that there's no cell signal and very limited WiFi on the property, also no TV's in the rooms. But if you're looking for a place to disconnect from technology, this place is great!"
Mountain Frog Cabin - A.C./Sleeps 2/Hot Tub - 30 min. from Rainier/Skiing
10/10 Excellent
"There are no words to express how exceptional this trip was & Shannon, the host, put the cherry on top.
Her consistent communication and beautiful cabin in the woods was everything my boyfriend and I were looking for and more!
Packwood was a delightful small town with delicious food, amazing views, kind people, and a convenient distance from the national park.
Whether you choose this cabin for some well-needed seclusion from loud cities or spend your days exploring the surrounding nature, you must book with Shannon! Her dedication to being an amazing host is further exemplified by her adding more features to the property like a hot tub.
10/10 experience, you’d be making the wrong choice by not choosing this Packwood cabin."
