Just wish the restaurant in the nearby store was open. It doesn’t begin operation until May 1 so we had to drive an hour round trip to eat.

The view of The Great Sand Dunes was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very quiet in April. Great restaurants in Alamosa, but it is a 30 min drive.

Amazing service. Easy recommendation.
Spectacular service. I was going to check in very late, the key was left out for me. I asked to check out late and even that was politely observed. View out the back is pretty great.

Great location but disappointing
Lodge location was the reason for selecting this stay. The room and amenities were disappointing for the cost. Bare bones accommodations. We had stayed in a Best Western the prior night and had far more comfort and amenities for the same price. Breakfast was less than stellar even for a take-n-go with so much plastic/paper waste. If the purpose of your stay is just to visit the dunes across the road, come prepared with food, water, etc. This location, unless during the busy tourist season, is disappointing to say the least. Check ahead to see if restaurant and general store/ gas station out front are open. Otherwise, you will be without.

Great Sand Dunes Lodge
It’s all about location- and this is as good as you can get to the Sand Dunes. I think it is expensive for what you get - but it was comfortable and clean.

Perfect Spot for Great Sand Dunes
Expensive but worth how close to the park you are and also the view from the back of your room! Beds were some of the comfiest we had our entire road trip. Would've loved to stay longer here but budget-wise it just didn't make sense. It was great to have them include breakfast, and we rented some sand boards as well. I recommend bringing your own or renting in town for a bit cheaper, however! Would definitely stay here again for proximity to the park, just allow for 30m or so driving to get to dinner in the nearby town (which is very cute!).

It is a convenient location if you want to go to the park at night or early morning. You can even view the great sand dunes from your room.

The room is clean and comfortable but pretty basic considering the cost. The grab and go breakfast is also pretty poor. But it is all about the location - you are paying for the proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park and the view of the dunes from your room. The huge downside is that there is nowhere for dinner. We wrongly believed that the nearby Oasis restaurant (unconnected to the lodge) was open till 7pm until the end of September but it closed at 4pm. The lodge should know this and make it clear to guests.

Worst Night in 7 diiferent stays in Colorado
We booked the trailer, which would be a first experience. We arrived right before the office closed at 8. We were assigned unit 21, there appeared to be no electricity in main area. The young lady in office then gave us the key to Unit 22. We slept fine but then there was no hot water to take a shower. When the office opened at 7:30, the office woman gave us Room 17 to take a shower. That room appeared to be updated and quite nice. After having to move 3 times in less than 12 hours, we were quite frustrated and contacted Hotels.com twice.

I stayed in one of the trailers up the hill from the lodge. It was an Airstream & very nice. Instant hot water, new lighting & mattress on the queen bed was quite comfy. I choose to sleep without the heat on. It was quite chilly but I slept so well. Just put on the heat when I woke up.

Beautiful spot for stargazing at night and a perfect view of the sand dunes from the property. But the camper we stayed in (Aspen Avion RV) is an old airstream which has kind of been updated, but could use some work. Half of the lights don’t work. We couldn’t close the door enough to lock it at night. But it was a comfy enough bed for one night, and a great location to get to the Great Sand Dunes park.

Poorly cleaned - there was toilet paper in toilet when we checked in. Rear glass door wouldn’t lock at all . The only positive is proximity to sand dunes . Very run down

Beautiful setting just outside Great Sand Dunes National Park. But the place is not well cared for. My wife almost sprained her ankle on the rickety step up to the room. It was clean and roomy but overpriced. Friendly staff but they need to renovate the place. And we paid north of $200 per night for a place that is a bit shabby. Beautiful view of the park from our room was a big perk.

Great experience. Large, clean rooms, Dove amenities, full refrigerator. The best point is being in the park and having the view of the Great Sand Dunes from the room's balcony. Great for stargazing also.

We just happened to find this property on Expedia and it was a great place to stay by the Great Sand Dunes. We had nice room with back patio that looked towards the dunes. We loved it there and would definitely come back. The staff was also very nice.

Fairly good for dark skies. Rooms are older and not very luxurious, recent bathroom finish upgrades, but the proximity to the Great Sand Dunes can't be beat. Breakfast is simple but included. Beds extremely hard, might as well have camped and slept on the ground in this regard.
