Vivenda Oliveirinha: Private Home with Pool and Wellness Center

The romantic Vivenda Oliveirinha is located in the small village of Azival, near Coimbra, Viseu, and the Estrella Mountains. It’s a beautiful holiday home in an idyllic setting with a private pool, not far from tourist attractions and, of course, the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can truly unwind amid the beautiful nature of Central Portugal, where true peace and quiet still exist. Enjoy the authentic Portuguese way of life: hospitable, affordable, laid-back, and authentic. The immediate surroundings offer wonderful opportunities for hiking.

Wake up in the morning in peace and quiet. Have breakfast by the pool and spend the afternoon dozing off in a lounge chair with a good book.

At the end of the day, enjoy a barbecue with fresh fish and a good glass of wine while watching the sun set. In the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful starry sky by the outdoor fireplace with a glass of port or relax in the spa pool while listening to the hooting of the owl.

The accommodation sleeps up to 4 people and consists of 2 bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom. There is also a cosy covered terrace with an outdoor fireplace. Because the accommodation is built into the rock face, it stays wonderfully cool in the summer. Bedroom 1 has a double bed with two electrically adjustable separate mattresses (2x 80×200 cm); Bedroom 2 has two single beds (90×200 cm).

The living room features a sofa and two sheepskin chairs, as well as a TV with a satellite receiver that provides access to all Dutch TV and radio stations. There is a pellet stove for heating on colder days. The bathroom has a shower, sink, and toilet. Bedding, hand towels, and bath towels are, of course, provided.

Coimbra: About 43 km away lies Coimbra, the city of students, steep streets, and fado. Coimbra, known for its historic university—one of the oldest in the world—offers a unique blend of tradition and modern vibrancy. Visit the impressive university library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and lose yourself in the old streets lined with cafés and shops. The Mondego River adds a touch of natural beauty, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a boat ride. In this region, you’ll also find the charming Portuguese golf resort “Quinta das Lágrimas Academia de Golfe.”

Viseu: About 59 km away lies Viseu, a charming city in the heart of the Dão wine region. Here you can visit Viseu Cathedral and the Grão Vasco Museum, which features works by the famous Portuguese painter. The city also offers beautiful parks and green spaces, ideal for a relaxing afternoon. Don’t miss the local cuisine, featuring delicious cheeses and wines.

Porto: About 110 km away is Porto, the city known for its port wine, colourful houses, and the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge. Take a stroll along the Douro River, visit one of the many port wine cellars for a
tasting, and admire the beautiful azulejos (tiles) that adorn many of the buildings.

Aveiro: About 50 km away lies Aveiro, often described as the Venice of Portugal because of the colourful gondolas (moliceiros) that glide through the canals. Explore the Art Nouveau buildings, sample ovos moles (a local sweet treat), and take a boat tour to see the city from the water. Aveiro is also famous for its salt pans and lively markets.

Beaches: There’s a charming little beach near the reservoir. The beautiful, wide sandy beaches of Figueira da Foz, Mira, and Tocha are about a 50-kilometer drive away.
